M1 Accidents last Friday

Drove up the M1 on Friday afternoon to the Fieldhead Hotel in Leicestershire in readiness of my chairing the Saab club meeting on Saturday. In a 35 mile stretch there was no less than 3 separate accidents along the way, one of them happened not 6 cars in front of me and involved 4 cars and 1 van. Now the startling thing about this was that the accident that happened in front of me was in a speed limited stretch of 40mph where we were only doing about 25mph
How is it possible to have an accident doing this speed on a motorway. The driver was standing by the van so I will rule out a cardiac arrest, unbelievable!
A normal two hour journey took me almost 5 hours before I reached my destination.

People, leave the mobile phone alone, concentrate on the road ahead, get to your destination safely

I think that's the key - not using your mobile whilst driving.

Inattention and not concentrating on the job at hand wait for it DRIVING SAFELY combined with tailgating eventually leads to the inevitable IMO.
