Look at the engine bay

Could not see anything either, but I remember the days of my old Cortina and Escort. They had loads of room around the engine, in fact you could see the road quite clearly through the engine bay.

They use loads of plastic engine covers now. I guess the PAS and aircon go a long way to filling up the engine bays, I for one wouldn't go back to how they were and lose these 2 items.

Wish I had 1/2 of that space after finding the bottom alternator bolt lose and the nut missing and the bolt working it's way out and stopped by the fan belt and there is no way to get at it from under the car and it is difficult to even see from topside. The nut is app 35 mm long and had to remove the turbo to IC pipe to make it fractionally easier to get at and install the new nut mainly by feel then retension the belt and all's well again,
.
FYI the new nut is now wire locked to prevent this happening again ;) :)

PS the sump plug and oil filter are also wire locked to prevent any chance of fluid loss :)
