Hi All,

New member and first-time poster, so forgive me if this has already been asked somewhere, I have looked but can't find anything.

I'm after some advice... I've got around £10k and want to buy a second/weekend car. Currently have the below shortlisted:

Honda S2000
Porsche Boxster S
BMW E46 M3 Coupe
Audi S3 (2009)

What's the most fun you can have for that sort of money? The car doesn't need to be fuel efficient or practical, it just needs to be fairly quick and handle well.

Be good to get people's thoughts and any additions to my list.

Thanks in advance.

Chris

I am biased to JDM, and especially Imprezas.
If I had the money I'd get this https://www.pistonheads.com/classif...-0-wrx-sti-version-5-type-r-2dr-coupe/6576110

That is fast Scooby ;)

However from your shortlist - the S2000 :)

Thanks Lunchmoney, that looks like it means business! Unfortunately the wife will be driving the second car every now and again, and I wouldn't be able to squeeze the Scooby past her!

The S2000 is my favourite so far, so I'm glad you agree on that!

Cheers!

I'm afraid i'm the same, none of those are on my fundar but the Porkie is probably my best pick. Go a bit older though and you can start importing some rare fun stuff like Nissan S15s, Skyline G35s or maybe a Porsche 996 for that budget. At least the older retro stuff won't lose any value at the moment

I'd also plump for the S2000, they are incredibly reliable and probably the cheapest of all the others to run.

The S3 is very quick and very easy to drive and offers practicalities that the other cars don't like a large boot space and 4 very comfortable seats.

What about throwing a TVR into your choices. They are really quick and fun and the engines generally come from fairly normal cars so servicing costs and reliability are good.

Personally I think the Boxster. I'm sure they will start to go up in value soon like all the other Porsches so could be a good investment.

They are also pretty reliable and do use lots of VW group parts throughout now!

The S2000 as others have pointed out is a good contender. The engines rev really high and most drivers don't use them anywhere near to their full potential.

around 8800 RPM IIRC. The only thing that revs higher would be something like the Wankel engine. Honda do seem to specialise in high RPM engines.
