I agree it is very versatile. The Cosworth YB is also a worthy contender but it depends on the definition of versatile.

I was thinking of how many versions of the basic engine that could be built.
FWIW I have had
- 2,0 8V SOHC that had 125 hp ATW
- 2.3 8V SOHC ^^^^^^^ 320 hp ATW
- 2.3 16V DOHC^^^^^^^387 hp ATW that will be getting a set of 1000cc injectors and a new Garrett GT3076R Twin Scroll turbo with V band turbine housing that will need the existing dump modded or a new dump and then onto the dyno to be re tuned/remapped and will keep you posted as to the results.
