It seems that the majority of drivers over here when turning left onto a multi lane road/highway gravitate to the right hand lane even when the left lane is clear.

Another thing that confuses me is when the driver in the RHL has to exit left speeds up (when I am driving at the posted limit in a left lane ) to overtake and cut one off to exit when they could have easily pulled in behind to exit safely

I see this a lot on tight bends or into driveways, if you don't pull out and take it wide you can't make it safely.
