Is it ok to leave a sitting without the radiator

Hi I have recently got an mr2 mk1 as a bit of a project, since it is an old car it of course has rust on it so currently I am trying to remove rust from the radiator and cooling fan housing however this will mean that the radiator will be off for a few days, so will this be ok or will this possibly create rust inside the engine block as it will all be exposed due to open pipes.

The engine block will be covered in carbon deposits and oil residue so this should be fine. Light rust may form in the cooling system but the antifreeze will contain an inhibitor anyway. Just don't take weeks to do this, a few days is perfectly fine IMO.

Ahh ok thanks for your response, I've got sick of wd40 and wire wool though so i've ordered bilt hamber hydrate 80, but that may take quite a while so would it be worth sticking some duct tape over the ends of the pipes so no dust can get in?

Wouldn't hurt buddy, for the 2 minutes it takes you, may save you time and/or money while you get what you need done

Always worth doing that as it stops random items finding their way inside.
