So i got to finish work 1/2 early, naturally i wanted to get home
1st i needed some juice since i was practically running on fumes
so i pulled in didnt check the number or how much i spent(50 flippin quid!),
just filled her up, then i glanced at the meter and saw 45
so i thought 45 pounds,
went into pay and the woman behind the counter said "number 8, 50 pounds"
i was like "no 45 pounds"
and then the biggest insult ever "is yours the little green thing"
i felt like saying (but didnt)

first off that little green thing is my car
2nd its no little or green
and 3rd Your ugly

however i was polite-ish and just said yes firmly!

while we are on the subject of people pissing me off
i hate it when i give way to traffic that might not have right of way
and they cant even be arsed, cos there too bone idle and lazy to lift one finger
Thats all i would want one raised finger, how much ****ing effort does that take! its not hard to raise four fingers or even a hand! but no they cant be bothered!:mad:

So what do you say about it?

take it it was 45 ltrs

yeah its something i hate as well. alot of the towns round here are old market towns with narrow roads lots of terraced houses and no drives the result lots of cars on the road with not much room for 2 ways of traffic

the amount of people who push their way though when its your right of way and halfway across pushing you right against the kerb and then look at you like you should let them through
how i stop it is i go right through the middle of the road with the sorto attitude that if you want to try and push you hitting me head on

another thing i hate it when they cant be bothered to indicate when turning LEFT coming down a road, especially when im at the junction waiting to go, and if they just werent too lazy to move their little finger down a few inches i could have gone, or they indicate a second before they turn WHY EVEN BOTHER AT ALL! by which time i cant go THANK A ****ING LOT TOSSER!

Agree with all posts here. Indicators are useful for the purpose of keeping traffic moving. What you'll notice is that the drivers that give no signals at all also manage to position their cars in such a way that totally contradicts their directional intention. Would you trust their indicators in that situation anyway? I don't.

They don't mean it since they're not bright enough to be arrogant - therefore let's give 'em the benefit of doubt and assume that they really are clinicially stupid and therefore possibly not mentally fit to be tried for the crimes of both general and specialised ignorance.

I, too, struggle with the CFWs and their attitude (perhaps they're not bright enough to have one of those, either?).

Don't let it wear you down mate. Even if you or I had the chance to explain their stupidity to them they'd be too dim to comprehend the words, never mind the meaning behind them.

regards,

Paul Anderson.

Two wongs don't make a right. Do unto others as you would have them do to you....

We appreciate your courtesy and encourage all of our members to be courteous on the road even though it seems many people are unwilling/unable to acknowledge you with a thankyou. Courteous drivers are what keep our traffic moving. People who just cut in or who never let others in are the ones that cause congestion. (That's my 2 cents worth!)

Asm for the comment about the little green thing - that is well out of order. You did well to keep your cool!

I sometimes get the diesel word used disparagingly.

eg. I drive a DIESEL;

Yours is the DIESEL;

It's only a DIESEL;

Does it go OK.....? (for a DIESEL?) etc.

Used to wind me up, but I just ignore it now.

Always amuses me that some folks thing a bog standard 1.6 petrol Astra is going to win in performance stakes 'cos it's a petrol car, innt?'

Hi guys,

not been around for a bit due to work etc.

just reading thru the posts and I can only agree. The indicator issue really gets my goat and is a regular argument with my g/f as she doesn't bother using them. Although since I've started to moan at her she's got better.

On the diesel front, I must admit I'm probably one of those ppl who ask the q's like 'how does it run for a diesel'. it's not out of nasttyness or 'wooo look at me i drive a petrol car', it's just out of interest. I hear so many story of fast diesels and the fuel economy is great. The only thing that puts me off is the sound. Do you get diesel cars that sound good?

I was reading a car mag this week with the new audi R8 diesel!!!! it's better than the petrol but I wonder how the V12 engine in it would sound compared with the V8 petrol.

The vibration is virtually eliminated now with balancer shafts, hydraulic engine mounts, dual mass flywheels etc. These work well but do add to the cost of engine manufacture.

Sound, well - mine's virtually inaudible. That's inside the car!. Outside there's still the tell tale diesel sound but it's well muted. The biggest noise outside is the rush of the turbos sucking air in and forcing it into the cylinders, which can be quite impressive as you surge past five vehicles uphill in fourth gear. Still not pleasing in the way the hysterical buzz of a Japanese quad cam V6 petrol engine is.

Performance is very strong. My remapped 2.2 will happily out-pull three litre petrols in gears 3,4,5 (6 too, if there is one).

Economy - good. But Rising diesel prices still slightly over petrol and more frequent servicing closes the cost difference somewhat.

I'm seriously considering a large capacity petrol next time round as the servicing is so much simpler and therefore cheaper which I think will probably save me some money.

Having said that, I've never worked it out formally.

I guess this really depends on your annual mileage more than anything else. Diesel cars are typcially more expensive to buy as well.

I do around 25,000 per year which puts me well into the diesel category but I'm still not certain that it's any cheaper for me than if I was to run a similarly powered petrol car.

Well my car gives me a fairly solid 37 mpg, servicing is every 2 years. (Plugs last for 40,000 miles) Which is not bad for a petrol but I think your annual costs will still be lower than mine!

diesels are getting as fast as petrols now anyway, just look at audi, speed machines, and peageot diesels are faster than there pertols, also petrol engines are getting better in terms of fuel comsumption

I dunno, Waynne, Factor in the particle filter every 50,000 miles or so, along with the EOLYS fluid reservoir replenishment. This runs away with 300 quid and I'm led to believe that dealers charge even more.

Then there's the fancy fully synthetic engine oils and fuel filter at fifteen quid every 12,000 miles. Peugeot recommend an intermediate oil swap every 6000, which I stick to with the remapped ECU as it possibly does put more thermal load on the engine oil.

Having said that, we're not comparing equal performance. I've driven a couple of Audi A3 1.8T's, which, I have to say are very nice cars indeed, but they're no match for the remapped 406's sheer midrange muscle.

I suppose that if I drove a V6 three litre Pug for a year I'd possibly have to adree that the diesel is the slightly more economical option.

I think that it largely comes down to driving preference now.

Diesel is no longer the poor relation to drive or ride in. But it's not the economical option in the way it was ten-twelve years back. Diesel fuel is also pricier than petrol.

I only get around 40mpg out of mine overall, although I do drive it with lead feet. And it's a heavy car, tips the scales at nearly one-and-a-half tons.

I remain unconvinced that diesel is the more economical option. Mr Brown is ensuring that everything is expensive so why worry?

Your Mr brown comment is spot on. Apparently higher taxes are environmentally friendly.

The 1.8T with a remap will hopefully be more of a threat to your 406 :)

The 1.8T should map comfortably to around 200 bhp and still keep its impeccable manners, or more if you're very agressive with the parameters. That amount of power, in an A3, which is a slightly lighter car, would see mine off I think.

Some people have taken them to over 250bhp but apparently this really does put some load on the turbocharger and cooling system.
