on the subject of audio and bass and all that owl carry on

i have a technics surround sound hifi
its very loud, and good quality sound with it

ive always thought of putting it into my car, but a guy once told me that i couldnt
because of the different power a car radio and a hifi work off

can someone tell me is this true, and if it can be done,,, how????

thwe Hifi will work of 240v and the car 12v

it can be done with an inverter with a relay fitted to the accessory lead to switch it on and off with the ignition.
dont know how well it would work

Ahh the difference between move, copy and the really scary MERGE! Just about got the hang of it myself!

You need to look at the Amps/Watt requirements of the hi fi. You might find you end up draining your battery and overloading the alternator. I would have thought a 200W inverter would be about the limit? Anyone know differently?

yeah i moved the original post to a new thread then replyed and ended up with
prevec thread and my 2 posts in theyre own thread..

you can get 1000w inverters now but thehave to be hard wired to the battery directly.
think 300w is the most that can be put through on the cig lighter models

you would want to look at a heavy duty alternator pulling that much though. that or a dual alternator setup and spare batteries. If you are going 1000w you would be going for what alot of the smaller RV's have in them just FYI
