nissan stagea rs4v
Hi all. Newbie Chris here driving a nissan stagea rsfourv series 1.
New to the tuning side of things but Lots of plans for the stag. Manual conversion, link ecu, straight plenum ,injectors, high flow fuel rail, stainless exhaust/manifold, turbo. Driftworks coilovers, arms , etc and not decided on rims yet.
Still toying with the r34 front conversion but unsure. Thoughts???

Hello and a warm welcome to TorqueCars from me, the Admin. It's really nice to meet you and have you along.

That sounds like a great plan for your Stagea, they are amazing cars.

Sleeper is the guy to ask about Stagea Tuning, I'm sure he'll find this thread shortly.

What will you be looking to use the car for?

The R34 front end does look very nice.

Hi and thanks for the welcome.
She's a compromise really, i wanted a skyline, the missus wanted to start camping with the two kids, the rest is history.
So a happy medium as far as tuning goes. plenty under the pedal when its needed but still a useable camping wagon for the family.
ill be sure to get in touch with sleeper.

Hi and welcome to TC forums from fellow Skyline Owner.
What I found with any of the Skyline family is when you start changing things you can't stop. I was lucky enough to own a R33 GTR V-Spec for couple years and the RB engine is a wonderful involving experience to drive.
Keep us informed of how the project goes and plenty of pics.

Hi andy, thanks for the welcome.
Yeh im finding as i research things, my list gets ever longer lol. Like i said im new to the tuning side of this, never had the time or opportunityto do it before. Finding it strangely addictive too.
Soon as i can start to post photos i'll put some up and keep track of the build.
Currently looking for some driftworks r33 rear coilovers if you know of anything about.

Did you get your car through one of the club's or independently Chris? I got my car through SOC forum but still had quite a lot of rectifying to do. Can recommend Splitfire coilpacks. If you can find them they're fantastic engine upgrade. Stay away from EBay fakes though, only get them through Skyline specialists.

I bought it privatly from a twit in essex. First thing he did was up the boost with a controller on stock engine which im told is not good. No spigot rings so my wheel tried to escape and various other really cheap upgrades done badly so ive had a bit to do.
have been looking at splitfires, (theyre on my list)
I have a little bit of guidance from skyline veterans at RB Motorsport who are just round the corner luckily too. And paul JDM is one my friends on FB so like you say, good contact and spares source.

Hmm I had RBM coils fitted to my GTR originally, 2 out of the 6 broke down within days of fitting. Maybe just a bad batch but Paul sorted me some Splitfires out and never looked back. Tim at Moff shop is also top bloke, I knew think he's a member on here. Runs a 600hp GTST track car which the build thread is on here somewhere.

ah right ok. will definately be taking your advice and getting the genuine parts. is it just a straight swap and plug in and away i go or do i need to do anything else?

Plug in and go. Will work well if you're looking at upgrading turbo, injectors, fuelling etc. When you program the Link G4 ecu it will be set for them along with the other new parts. What type of setup you looking for? Power, torque, fast road, drag, drift......... Etc Etc

Hell0, it's great to meet you. I look forward to discussing hot motoring topics with you on here.

I suppose im looking for an all round set up to be honest. Still has to be useable for the family cxamping but wanna be able to take it on track day and have some fun.

I am ashamed to say it took me a few days to spot this thread
So Hi

I am currently six years into finding out what can be done to a stagea , ( the answer is quite a lot )

If you have a stock car the general consensus is to do thinks in the following order

Uprate the brakes first Like most nissans RS Four Brakes are crap - 32/3/4 GTR will do (for now :D )
Complete exhaust decat and induction
Do the manual conversion early certainly and definately before you tune it or you will be buying bits twice as the type of box determines which ECU you need
Link G4s are excellent and will do everything you need and more . I have one on my car and it is the dogs. Incedently if you do need one I can get a discount off the list price as I doubt you will find a second hand one.
Exhaust manifolds wont give you much gain as the RB manifolds perform pretty well but the stock ones on RB25s do break bolts so a sensible mod.
Changing the arms is worthwhile but changing the main subframe bushes gives the most improvement as these bushes are rarely changed and nealy always shagged (please excuse the use of highly technical jargon ).
You dont want to lock it with steel collars or solid bushes. I fitted whiteline polybushes which made a huge difference , They are also a lot less than half the cost of the oem nissan jobbies and you can get them in the ulk

Suspension 33 gts/gtr wont fit you need stagea specific bits Im afraid. But the rest of the set up (arms etc ) is interchangeable with GTR.
You can fit GTR suspension but this needs some other changes . Ive filled up your thread enough already so will stop now,.
but if you want that info (and more) I will be glad to help.
Nor really up on tuning RB25s as I have an RB28 in mine but anything that works for a GTS works for a stagea (once it has the manual box in )

Hope this helps

Hi sleeper,

I was informed you were the fountain of knowledge on all things stagea, so i imagine we will be having many discussions lol.
The brakes are already done off a 33 gtr so as you say they will do for now.
Im currently sourcing suspension and exhaust parts from a variety of places and people i know so heading the right way there.
Are they legal without the cat?

Which suspensoin setup have you used? I was told the bc golds aren't great which is what i was looking at originally.

Not rushing into anything as my budget wont allow it lol. But not compromising either so i can see it taking me a while.

Am i right in reading you import stageas to the UK?
I really appreciate the info and thanks for the welcome.

to answer the last one first
Yes I do Usually only the top models the RS Four S and the turbo V6 series 3 cars . I have one of the s3 cars arriving end of december

The problem with stageas is that there is much more weight behind the rear wheels so the s15 units (that do fit ) just are not up to it because the spring rate

The spring rate is also the problem with BC the units having all the adjustment in the world doeant hel[ pf the springs are wrong
You would be better off with any stagea specific suspension

My suspension set up - you did ask

All arms polybushed with whiteline subframe bushes . I have fitted GTR rear bottom arms and hubs to the rear. This means you can fit the RS260 type suspension so I have the stagea specific Nismo S tunes

HI, HOW CAN I INCREASE HORSEPOWER ON 1991 r32 rb20, DO I NEED A NEW CHIP OR NEW ECU OR CAN MYOWN BE REMAPPED, I HAVE KESS AND KTAG BUT THIS CAR IS NOT LISTED, CHEERS.
