I'll preface by saying I'm currently a student so I can't afford a car but I'm a bit of a car person and live a bit of tinkering, mostly here to lurk read and learn atm

Any particular genre of cars you like? Certain brands, age, JDM, muscle, turbocharged etc etc or just anything that takes your fancy

The looooong term goal is a charged LS in an mx5.
Love a good v8 rumble and mx5 was my favourite car as a kid!
I know LS swaps are a bit of a cliche but that doesn't make them bad imo

That sounds awesome. Keep in mind some of the JDM V8s just to have a bit of continuity and individuality. Lexus V8s are good and can take turbocharging really well

I'll bare it it mind! The whole idea is a long way off anyway unless I win the lottery

For now I'll stick to modifying my gx240 lawnmower engine to try learn what I can and familiarise myself with tuning as a whole
