Hello, after a long time in petrolhead remission, I have yet again succumb to my expensive addiction , and got another project fast car (" ")
I have an engineering background, and went to the college of 'grenade it and learn quick' and the university of 'pouring all my money down the drain with lying rip off tuning company's when I am struggling like hell on low wages, where I qualified with distinctions and degrees, all very valuable now. However, I am old school, and I am old! I really wanted to join your forum to learn. I like the snippets of decent info on the web that torquecars has to offer, (gems) and please forgive me, I know more about boring and honing than oxygen sensors and maps, blow off valves and ...well you know. Had lotts of experience grinding heads (cast iron) owch, and carbs and exhausts on real minis, but all this tech stuff is brand new to me. I touched on it very briefly in the 90s, while owning the escort rs turbo mk1, but swiftly ran out of patience with a broken heart and wallet (again)
I do things way more affordable these days (i find you can get champagne at lemonade prices if you are patient) so thats why I am here, thanks for having me and HELP...HELP:)

By claiming to be "really old" is he challenging me for the title of the oldest rev head on the forum
I think that I may still hold the crown as I started with a side valve whereas Minis were OHV

in really old vintage cars, there was no sump, oil pump, etc, so the oil went in via a oil tank, and then just run out onto the road underneath the car. You were quoting side valves, i thought i would go a bit more primitive. Decompression levers in the cab, and timing levers also spring to mind...
