Hi there ! My name is Alexander and i own a smart fortwo coupe model Year 2005!(450) I am interested in technical how to's and info on do it yourself stuff ! Thank you all and keep up !!?

Unfortunately my expertise does not extend to the Smart fortwo coupe model Year 2005. You need an entirely different perspective on this car and not mine. We do have an awful lot of experts on this site who have clearly yet to discover your first post left barely 47 minutes ago. Be patient, your answer will be hopefully not too far away ;)

Thank you T9 man !!! You are the man for the job ! ;b/ i will be patient then !!! Thank you and have a happy new year !

Hello and welcome, did you have any mods in mind for your car? What are your plans?

hi thexav !
my smart has 84.000km and is far from engine-turbo failures at this point....i intend to keep it that way....but i need all the help i can get...the only mods i did is a k&n air filter to replace the stock paper one and an oil adapter in order to discontinue the use of paper oil filters and use the plain metallic canister instead !(better filtration i suppose...) i am open to any suggestions....

i recently noticed that there is some oil sludge around the bottom of the tik pipe at the point where it connects to two small hoses....i googled it and concluded that these are oil vapors....the two small hoss vent the oil ...so i will check the hoses integrity at first....secondly..what is your opinion of an oil catch tank ¿? (as you can imagine i am trying to do everything in my power to prevent turbo-engine failure which is a common curse for smart's...)

even 2 or 3 oil changes in between 15000 km....it's really not a problem for me....i do most of the stuff by myself!!:)

i am not thinking of remapping or anything like that for such a vehicle...it is still a 700cc engine with 50hp and my opinion is that stressing it via some kind of software will not do any good...i may nortice some changes at first but i think i will regret it later !o_O

small steps then ...and only ones that affect the cars hardware only.....i am not planning to rebuild the engine at this point of course......! if you have any ideas please share them with me !! thank u !

May I as the site admin wish you a very warm welcome to TorqueCars. It is really nice to meet you and I hope you'll be spending some time with us over the months to come.

You'll find us one of the friendliest and most helpful car tuning forums around.

I think a remap is the most cost effective map, get the gearbox mapped as well for a very zippy nippy ride. Smaller engines are actually stronger than larger ones and can cope with the power gains more easily.

Turbo upgrades also give large power gains and I've seen an MR2 engine powered Smart which literally flew, lifting the front wheels on acceleration!

Hello Obi_waynne!! Thank you for the welcoming !!! Thank u for the info ! Sounds tempting....i think you must know a mechanic very well in order to do something like that...he must be a specialist on doing such remappings and i have no idea....
