hello world

Stu here
Would love to learn more on tuning my golf 1.9 tdi pd 130

Have a remapped ecu I got from eBay, noticeable improvement, it suggests 170 bsp, not convinced but it was okay for the price. Planning to measure the inlet air temp soon as I suspect a better intercooler would help. Be great to hear any suggestions on what type to fit and where to get one at a good price, I'm on a budget but sure that's the case for most folks.
Vrrrrm.

Hi and welcome to the TC forums
Darkside developments are the tuning gurus for the VAG group diesels.darksidedevelopments
What did you get off EBay, a plug in unit for under the bonnet or an ecu flash through the OBD Port?

FWIW I would not fit anything that claims to increase the performance of an expensive to repair diesel motor like an ebay chip. I would recommend that you seek advise from a reputable diesel performance specialist especially one familiar with your vehicle.

Just my 2 cents worth :)

The Pd 130 engine shares injectors with the Pd150 engine so the injectors ( if in good working order ) will be good to flow enough fuel to get you to 210-220hp. The difference between the 130 and 150 is turbo, camshaft, intercooler and software i believe. THe 130 runs a side mount cooler just behind the passenger headlight area where as the 150 runs a larger front mounted intercooler so i would maybe suggest that a 150 intercooler upgrade would be a cost effective 1st step to getting more power followed by a propper stage 1 ecu software remap to take advantage of the extra volume of cold air that the new or second hand 150 intercooler will provide.

As TCJBOLDIE has already stated tho, it wise to go to someone who knows these engines as they are a pretty sensitive lump but also very tune able if you know what to tweek and by how much.

Those old PD units are certainly very tunable as Auds says. Darkside are running a Seat Arosa drag car with well over 500HP from a what was originally a PD130.
I'm not sure your one can get to 170 on its original turbo, I'd be surprised anyway
