from 16 psi to 22 psi from an exhaust change.

was running at 16 psi with a stage 1 tune,had the straight threw ss exhaust fitted with no cat or middle box and it felt alot lot quicker but i never looked at the boost guage {fitted in the bottom of the center console} took it for a blast down the a38 and now my boost guage is reading 22 psi.any ideas why ?

its an internal acuator kkk's.pulls smooth.just wondering if the cat was restricting it.

With no restrictions the exhaust will flow more easily allowing the turbo to spin up faster and to higher speeds. It seems like a big jump to me but these things happen.

i could only go to 17 psi max but with loads of black smoke,and yeh its a big jump up to 22psi from just having the exhaust done:blink:

less back pressure mate.... simple as that.... the exhaust gases can escape now

simple rule of thumb with turbo engines....the bigger the better (after the turbo) to the point of diminishing returns....

haha,shocking jump of boost and power thow.
think my turbo is on the way out,whining noise up the gears.which is the td04 turbo i need to upgrade cus their is angled and straight fit ones ?
