What is the first family owned car that you remember as a child?

Now when I grew up my dad didn't have a driving licence so we walked everywhere, my how things change.

The first family car I remember was a Datsun "Sunny?" 130Y with a tigra style curved glass hatch.

For me it was a Triumph Herald 1300 with a wooden dashboard, thought it was the coolest thing ever!

Parents can't drive either. But it was a toyota super saloon is the first family car I remember not even sure if that's it's proper name.

A Triumph, can't remember the model.

It had vinyl seats, and I had to sit on a blanket in summer due to how much heat they would absorb!

yup ive been trying to get them off it for years. he even liked the civic, mum loved the 'lude and both love the bora yet they always went for vauxhall. think the turning point was the inlet cam snapping in to resulting in a £1800 repair bill

They do things like that. My Dad, of course, won't have that problem because he sepnt weeks hunting down a 6 month old 1.6 litre EIGHT valve SINGLE CAM Astra. Specifically did not want the TC 16v engine!

What a berk!!!!!

I remember my Dad having a little red van we used to sit in the back of. Safety first kids! lol! Then a light blue escort. The best one was my brother-in-law who actually owned one of the original Trotters Independent Traders yellow three-wheel van's.

A VW Bug that leaked fumes like a mother@#%^!
I hated that car, that and a Ford Station wagon we used to have.
If anyone tried to sell me either one I would likely stab them

@Toushi - I think all bugs of that era leaked petrol fumes. It was almost a feature - is that why Bug drivers are generally smiling all the time.

1933 Standard 9 even remember the reg. WD4992. The next car was a 1936 Morris 8 series 1. After that a more modern car a 1955 Standard 8.
