Have you ever been pulled over by the Police? Were you being naughty?

Did you get a warning, advice or just a penalty notice and did this affect your driving afterwards.

The only time I've ever been pulled over was when I was lost, I circled Buckingham palace 3 times, they thought it was suspicious and pulled me over and searched the car. When I explained I was lots a motorcycle policeman gave us an escort away from the area and showed us the route we needed to take! Really nice guy!

Been pulled once. As I had learner plates on with my mum, she used a second mirror like instructors to see behind her. They pulled us and gave my mum a 15 minute lecture on why its bad practice.

Back in the 70s the Elan was like a police magnet as modified cars were rarer back then. It got to the point that whenever I saw a police car behind me I would pull over. This actually worked very well. They'd ask me why I pulled over and I would reply that I got stopped so often it was easier just to pull over. Quite a few traffic cops were also car enthusiasts back then so it usually ended up with a tour of the car and a chat. After a while I got to know most of them so I never had any problems.

Well, I did once. Got stopped by a flatfoot with issues. He obviously knew a little bit about Elans as he insisted on checking that the handbrake worked. They only worked for the MOT and a few weeks afterwards as they quickly loosened up and adjusting was a pain.

Fortunately, however, I had a brake light switch that allowed me to either flash the lights or turn them off. Turned them off, pulled up the handbrake and pressed the brake pedal. His face was a picture as he tried his hardest to push the car! Luckily he didn't think about trying without me in the car. Rebuild includes this switch :)

Resisting arrest, misleading an officer and impersonating a working handbrake! I don't know how you can sleep at night ;)

Stopped for speeding in the mid 80s, I was driving a friends new XR2 and was driving it 'by hear'. I wasn't looking at the speedo and thought I was driving the Firenza I had then, happened to be doing 85mph. They said be careful and off I drove, a lot slower.

In my old Firenza I was pulled, plod was only being nosey and wanted to look at the car and chat, nice chap. Same car again, found out my clocks needed calibrating, was speeding slightly and they said get them checked. Last time was when I had my Calibra sorned, taxed it after a rebuild and got pulled by a team of Police doing blanket checks. Their database had me down as sorned until I showed him the tax disc!

To sum it up since I started driving in 1982 I have never had a point on my licence, never had a fine, never been breathalysed................... *touches every bit of wood I can see*

Not an angel just been a little lucky. The day I do get caught by a camera then I can say I deserved it.

Only once, When i had the green RS, id just had the exhaust fitted so liked making it pop and bang, was going over to a cruise convoying with a few mates, we got to the carpark where it was (quite big) and i couldnt see anyone so pulled over my mate pulled next to me and pointed out a load of cars... Put my foot down to make a bit of a racket as you do, blue lights behind me (doh!)

Was doing about 60 though morrisions car park and got pulled infront of loads of people. The guy basically got out and said its a nice car and wouldnt want to see me crash it so told me to slow down. Had a look around it had a chat about the car (he said he used to own RS's, but the old cossies) and then he left, was a pleasent guy to deal with and i was completley in the wrong so could have been alot worse.

^^ There are some really decent coppers about who will use common sense and not the law rule book to make a point.

Speeding in an old Rover Sterling 2.7L years ago barely 24 hours after I got it if memory serves. Policeman pulls me up and walks up to the drivers window, I wind it down and he leans in - Show any movies on that flight Captain? I just burst out laughing, could not help myself
He was really cool about it and told me to behave myself from now on! :)

Yes, for speeding... but if I tell you the full story I'll probably get hounded again, like when I posted up the Autobahn video a few weeks back - so that's all I'm saying lol

Numerous times when I was younger the cars I owned we're police magnets it became so often than I would keep my documents in the car to avoid them giving me a producer

The last times I got pulled was in my astra gsi the first time was the cars in front of me we're doing 35 on a 40 Road so I undertook them and as I did the flashing lights came on and they pulled me over kept me there for 5 minutes let me off with a warning.

And the last time I was pulled it was by a police bike cause my car didn't have tax
The reason being it was before online taxing and I didn't have my insurance certificate so I couldn't tax my car and my insurance had sent my certificate recorded delivery and no one was in so I had to collect it from the post office. When he pulled me I explained the situation showed him the certificate and tax form and he allowed me on my way

When I first had the A4, it was Black with tints on everything and Black wheels truly a pimped out car and I lived in a non to desirable part of town and would often be pulled over as I used to finish work late at night and had to transit the red light district, They seemed really disappointed I wasn't a pimp! lol

Actually... I've another story that won't refleft badly on my driving .

I got stopped in Birmingham once, when I had the RS4 by a female officer. She asked me if it was my vehicle - I said yes, and then proceeded to say ok I just need to run a few checks and you'll be on your way.

I asked why she had stopped me and the reason was the car had come up on her reg check as registered in Kent and I was 'a long way from home'.

I did ask if being a long way from home was an offence and she said no, so I asked again why I've been stopped and got told off for being awkward.

I also pointed out to her I was up in Liverpool the day before and wasn't stopped up there for being 'even further away from home'.

She ran the remainder of her checks and had a look around the car and told me to 'go away!'

Twice for speeding .. in the first time i was lost and late for an interview so i was speeding , cop jumped out of nowhere , wouldnt let me off and i was Fined .. second time i was trying out a car with manual Gearbox and i was checking how it feels to shift all the way to 5th .. before i knew it i was driving 90Kmh in a 50Kmh road again the Ninja police jumps out of nowhere .. i get fined and they strip me of my driving license hehe ... did that affect the way i drive ? well one thing for sure i now keep an eye for cops and never speed on Road unfamiliar to me
