So now Mitsubishi and Nissan (by association) are sucked into the great "we made stuff up about the emissions and economy figures" scandal.

Who's next? Are they all doing it? Does it matter or surprise you much?

No surprise at all. And no one is being deceitful. The law requires that the cars pass the prescribed test in standard tune. They do.

If someone could make an engine that really does deliver the all goods in normal driving then they'd be either very rich or very dead.

The last thing oil producing nations want is uber economy.

The last thing any government wants is to lose revenue through vehicle duties and taxation linked to emissions. The environmental plea is used mercilessly to justify fuel duty and road fund license costs.

This is critical, as we need to fill the £34 Billion hole in order to support legal tax avoidance scheme for the elite. Nothing is more important than this.
