What are your thoughts on limited slif differentials? Do they offer more performance than standard diffs?

I've also heard that some people weld up the diff completely, why would you do this, surely the wheels have to turn at different rates.

Locked diffs only work on drift cars, the skipping and loss of traction is beneficial to drift cars who want to effectively maintain a skid.

When wheels spin at different rates you lose power if all the power is sent to the spinning wheel.

A semi locking diff or torque sensing diff sends power to both and this can help with cornering by providing the trailing wheel with extra pushing power.

On a track a Torsion diff can cut quite a lot of time over standard diffs and is IMO about the same as a 40bhp advantage.

Welded and spool diffs are illegal in road registered vehicles over here as they can be dangerous especially in the wet and require a different driving style and not generally the drifters pick.

A Torsen/Quaife LSD must have both driven wheels on the ground to function as an LSD

KAAZ 1.5 or 2 way seem to be what drifters prefer.

A DETROIT LOCKER will act like a welded diff under power but will act like an open diff when coasting and they are legal in road registered cars.
