Define a quick car

Thats the problem. I'm a big headed, anti enviromentalist, hippy hating bald git. I know I have a fast car and like to have a laf with people on here. I don't brag about it off torque cars as there is no need. Anyone who thinks they have faster, they can try it or shut up.

Oh' and I hit a new record the other day. Eco peeps please read on.

I was able to get 7mpg out of my car the other day!!!!! Put in 4 gallons and did 28 miles!!! YEAH!!! :bigsmile: NEW EVO RECORD for me! My past best was 9
 
Well bbj I notice you only brag on this forum (your words not mine BTW ) but not on other forums ?

Possibly because very few on here have even sub 5 second cars let alone sub 4 wheras on quite a few of the jap forums people would take the piss if you said 170 was quick

Anyway

So big guy what is your standing quarter then is it quick , fast or , special........
 
In fairness you can brag all you want, there is ALWAYS something faster out there on the roads. Just enjoy what you have and enjoy driving it because realistically you will never have the quickest or fastest car.

It's just an Evo, there are millions of the things about!
 
ANY street car is slow against an F1 car! It is all relative, but when you jump in a hire car - what do you perceive as being slow?

Does it matter to be in the top 5,10,15 or 20% of fast cars on our roads? For me I'd expect to be in the top 15% of cars and i'd be happy. It sounds like a lot want to be "top dog" and get in to the top 5% or better slots.

Gimme a year to get mine finished, on a budget of max 4k, and ill take that challenge to 120mph.... after that id have no chance, but a good mate of mine has an mildly tuned Evo6, and he is my target.... then YOU! :lol:

That's the thing isn't it, anybody can go out and buy a £4k car or build one these days that is quicker than an FQ-300 (for example). It probably won't be as good an all-rounder, or as nice looking, or have a very nice interior etc etc but it will still be a faster car for less than half the cost. It's important to enjoy your car for what it is because there could well be a day someone slaughters your £15k car in a £5k kit-car or likewise someone in a £15k Evo leaves your £90k supercar for dust!

Exactly this.

Mine will handle as well as a FWD car can be expected to, but it would be no match around corners to a 4WD.
The interior wont be there, and it will be noisy and unpractical.

But it will do what im building it for, put a massive smile on my face :)
 
Once you have all agreed who has the fastest road legal car on here, give me a call as I should be finished by then :)

Most braggers are full of BS.

A lot of cars are all f*rt and no sh*t (along with their owners).

Very few pub racers' cars actually see a drag strip. Or if they do, the only thing that takes longer is their excuse.

Or, like me, it will be quick when it's finished :)

Back in the late 70s a friend and I used to hand these out to the BS merchants and we got one challenge.

And there's me just trying to have a laff with the lads. Now I do understand some people take it the wrong way. And to them, I say ''Sod Em'' I don't use any other forums as I do not spend all day typing with my nose in the air answering everyone's posts.

I know I have nothing special. I know that there are alot of people who could jump in my car and drive it faster than me. Im not saying im Mansel. I live in the arse end of no where, 250 miles north of Glasgow. There is limmeted places I can take my car to gain information like that. So untill I go somewhere that has a track, then I'll stick to my abandaned runway. OK? :bigsmile::p

Hopefully, no one is taking it the wrong way. The main problems with chats that are not face to face are that you lose the facial expressions and the nuances in the delivery.

Sticking your head above the parapet means that it is likely to be shot off :)

As said elsewhere, there is always someone faster than you (you meaning all of us).

We all talk about our cars and think (hope) they are faster than they actually are. However, the drag strip is a great leveller which is why very few owners actually risk it.

If you can't walk the walk, don't talk the talk.

Anyway, your car should be quick. That far north it must be so cold the air density will be much higher allowing more power to be produced!

I wish I had the use of a runway, you lucky person whose parents were not married ;)

How long is the runway? Have you done any runs using sat nav or in-car logging?

That is a great place to practice standing starts without getting arrested.
 
The runway its self is about 1 mile. But there is a taxi way that goes all around it. Some of it is overgrown and there is a lot of moss there on the corners, so it can be quite fun! :p

I don't like doing triple figures on the roads, its not worth the ban. But there is some lovely roads here with tight corners with low hedges so you can see for miles. Anyone can go fast in a straight line. Cornering is where it is at for me! :bigsmile::blink1:
