Do you get wound up with all the annoyingly stupid things people who are not into cars say?

List some of the daft things you've heard people say about their car.

It's worth about £3000! - when the car is clearly only worth about half this on an optimistic day!
My car goes from 0-60 2 seconds quicker than it really does.

Well, I am sure they are right about their 0-60 time, as their mate in the passenger seat timed it with his phone.

Why did you buy another v6 thought you would get something cheaper to run.
Had this constantly since I changed from my st24 to a mondeo zetec s last month.
Its doing my head in.

I get accused of being image conscious because I happen to drive German Rage Magnet. It was an emergency purchase in 2010 and I DID look hard at BMW in the interests of long term reliability and cost effectiveness in terms of routine maintenance being pretty cheap.

I HATE the image that the BMW badge projects of me. To the point I'd seriously consider NOT having another one for that reason alone.

I was only 40 when I bought it, hardly a pensionable age now is it.
Now had I been the wrong side of 60!!!! Remind me how old you are again OG

Ah, but I haven't got a SAAB. Maybe people are thinking that you look over 60.

:)

And I haven't got a BMW - it's a Passat with a very convincing bodykit :)

It would be an interesting exercise if you were to put VW badges on the BMW. How many people would realise it wasn't a VW? I reckon not very many.

Get into top gear as soon as possible. Yes, Dad. But they don't mean 6th at 29mph. They mean use the gears and engine to accelerate swiftly to your chosen speed and then engage the correct gear for that speed.

She's had it years now. It's quite low mileage cause it don't really go anywhere. Think it's under 60,000, and for an S plate that's pretty good.
I've taught her how to show the boy racers up at the lights.

Talking with friends about drifting and various other car related things when my mum pipes up and says, 'Back in the day, me and your Dad used to Hoon around in his old Escort RS'. I'm sorry, mum. Did you just say Hoon?
