Buying stolen parts

If you were offered car parts cheap that you suspected may have been stolen would you buy them?

Some may adopt an ask no questions.
Others prefer to avoid the risk altogether and some I'm sure will ask lots of questions and then happily believe a fib.

How would you proceed with this one then? Would it be different if it were an ebay sale or man selling something from his van in the street? What precautions would you take?

What would make you think they were stolen?

With eBay and the internet in general, forums, facebook etc how do you differentiate between a bargain and something thats stolen?
