Avoid the extremes,
Lower suspension is not always better
Bigger exhausts, intercoolers, intakes and turbos are not always better
Bigger wheels, brakes or fatter tyres are not always better.
There is a large area between the OEM and the extremes we see on road cars. If you have a street legal daily driven car, stick to the OEM end of the range, go further up if the car is motorsport only, driven on smooth tracks and at high RPM all the time.
Can you think of other examples of car mods that are not always better at the extreme.
