airbag bolts wont come out

hi, want to put an aftermarket steering wheel on but the bolts for the airbag wont come out from the casing, they are loose but just keep turning on the thread, never had this problem before, any ideas how to remove them? thanks

Toyotas have star shaped screws, you have to slacken these off till they are loose and then prize them out with a screwdriver to get them out of the plastic retainers.

You'll also need a steering wheel puller tool for the older wheels, it has a Tree shaped Y of metal with a hole in the middle.

At times like this you need to refer to the workshop manual, they usually cover the finer points. I must admit I'm not all that clued up on the Caldina so take my advice with caution.

BE VERY CAREFUL REMOVING THE AIR BAG< THE LAST THING YOU WANT TO DO IS SET IT OFF WHEN YOU ARE USING TOOLS OVER IT.
