i know autos aint the best to mod, but i want a bit more power without too much expence. its lpg converted, but anything that can be altered on a petrol can be altered on lpg.

im also having a problem with low rev's as eveytime you drop the revs too quick to idle, she will die. drop them slowly and its some times fine. seems to run better with the air con turned on, and gets more MPG with it on ?!?

any help would be great.

Hi NCC-1709 - your'e not a star trek fan are you? (the U.S.S. Lexington was the 1709 was it not?)

Welcome to the site. I really like Rovers and love a chance to talk about them. I suspect that the rev drop and idle problem is electrical - have you changed plugs leads and HT contacts?

More power on the T series? Induction kit (makes a fantastic noise on these engines!), Sports cam, bigger valves, sports exhaust. My petrol 220 GTi had an SE boost valve but I think LPG is different in respects of fuel delivery! Low ratio gears a good but as you say with an auto there is not a lot you can do with that.

am a trekkie, but 1701 was never avalible, so i picked 9.

all thats changed is a joiner on the fuel system that switches between petrol and gas. it still has petrol and is switchable for that little more with lots of additivs.
and it has ram scoops for the air ducts( just need to reconect them, tha last owner cut them and blocked them off (ass hole) so ive unblocked them just need fresh pipes and its fully conected.) so would an induction kit make much diffrence, or would it be better to just get a better filter?

and got any shops/sites i can get the valves ,cam and exhaust from?

and as you say about the auto, 1st to seond is one hell of a rev drop, nearly 3k, 2nd to 3rd is 2.5k drop in revs. then 3to4th isnt too bad, then 4 to 5th(its there) is tiny but knoticable.
thanx for the replys

There is a company called Moto-build racing that specialise in Rover parts. As you have a cold air feed then an induction kit would be a lot better than a panel filter. The engines sound fantastic when they have an induction kit fitted. I did have loads of trouble with oil leaks from just about every seal and gasket while I owned my 220 - is yours ok?

I really recommend the Scorpion exhausts for the T series engine - a 2.5 inch pipe with 3 inch exit pipe - mine sounded great and had lots of low down torque. I also had a sports cat fitted which helped get a little more power from the engine.

i am having problems with leaks, but only on plugs 3 and 4, and the main gasket(some one botched that up aswell :( ) which im gonna get sorted within a week of so. its also been overfilled by a small amount, so a little leaking helps lower that :D
thanx for the names. ill start looking.

If you're doing the head gasket (taking off the head) it would be worth getting the head properly flowed and fitting the bigger valves. There is a metal gasket which seems to be highly rated by Rover fans - talk to Moto-Build and see what they recommend!

Oh that's a pain! I do remember now that the 600 has odd engine mounts as well and a few other non standard (Rover) items.

The 2.0 engine was, I believe, Rover designed and made but I think the 1.6 and 1.4 blocks were of Honda origins. But even the mounts for the 600 were quite different from the 220,420 and 820's. Wasn't the 600 body styled by Honda?

not sure on that lot, but the engine is a honda. ive found a few things i can do, so ill see what where my money limites me. the sports exhause with cat would be £500 / £600 which is a bit more that i expected, concidering a new renault laguna Exc sport one was £160 with the gas recycler pipe.
