Hi guys, i know there wont be many 4x4 nuts like me out there, but Waynne has kindly done this section for me and other 4x4 geeks.

To show how nuts i am about my 4x4, i got the chance of a mpv, but just couldnt bare to part with my trooper, gonna hang out for a lwb trooper or a double cab pick up style.

Your not alone mate, i love em too, but only just beginning.

I have a kit car which is having a make over soon.

78" or 80" wheelbased Land/Range rover Hybrid Chassis, 3.5/3.9 V8 motor, hoping for a 4 speed box but might go auto.

Mickey Thompson Claws rubber and hi lift kit.

I dont know how to post a photo up yet but if you want to see my wagon it on the Dakar site. www.dakar4x4.co.uk/mainmenu.html
Go to gallery and mine is 14780

They look good voices - quite a mixed bag of vehicles you have there. What track to you use for racing?

the only track we have over here is Victoria Avenue Karting Centre.

We dont have any tracks over here for car racing, just karting and mini moto racing.

The car is for Hillclimbs, Sprints.

We do have unofficial tracks on 2 beaches, Autocross (banger racing) on Chouet (pronounced Shoe Ay) and Sandracing on Vazon Bay (pronounced Var zon)

Oh and the Motocross track on the cliffs.

I wouldn't describe myself as a 4x4 nut but in my time at Mitsubishi I grew to respect them! I became the L200 rebuild specialist when we suffered a run of siezed balance shafts and spun big end bearings. I was the only mechanic who actually enjoyed spending all day up to his elbows in bits of engine! I remember one time I had 2 L200 engines stripped, one with the parts to rebuild when the controller came out and asked if I wanted '...a quick job to give me a break from the engines?' I said OK and was presented with a late model Shogun and a box with a new flywheel in it! Didn't get back to my engines that day!
Many of the Mitsys i worked on were school run mobiles but having seen what these cars are capable of when on courses at the factory you always appreciated working on ones caked in mud/seaweed more!

Kerbside,
have you seen the new Nissan advert for their 4x4 range??
Awesome concept!!!

My mate John had a Shogun given to him that had been rolled so he cut off the body and fitted a Suzuki SJ413 body on it!! Looked the bee's knees. Took some doing but it got some abuse when it was done.

Its in the Gallery at the top of the page rather than the one in the forum (this is the new all singing all dancing :? Gallery!)

Waynne, is there an easier way of uploading photos? it seems to give an error message when you load the photos but if you click add modifications it uploads them.

The TDR250 site im a Mod on is a PHP site. You have to host it.

Hi Waynne, found it eventually - can i be a bit negative? I'm not keen on the gallery (i know you have put allot of work into it). I dont think it is easy to navigate or find the pictures attached to the forum. I'm really sorry if i am being a horrible person

Negative comments are good, and are actually appreciated. The gallery is an extremely complex piece of code and I will take on board what you say it just got messier and messier especially as it became clear there could be 1000's of photos in it. It's also not as fast as I want.

(I still think it is a good way of browsing pictures of shows and the slideshow function is quite good. BUT finding individual galleries is fiddly - perhaps we need a proper members gallery here in the forum with an image upload facility built into the site!)

Voices - I have suspected there was a problem with the gallery but can never get the problem when I upload pics. Freddie and Xavier both have managed uploads without problems but I see a lot of others have created galleries and not managed to upload the pics so it looks like I still have a lot of debugging to do....

We are hosted on our own PHP server so anything is possible Voices.

Don't ever worry about offending me! I have put feedback boxes all over the main site and belive me I have had extremely unflattering comments from time to time but each one highlights a problem or weak area which I have improved and now I get very little negative feedback.

People are also very reluctant to be honestly critical - if they don't like a site they will just move on so if 1 person takes the time to point something out there is probably another 1000 people who have just moved on.

trooper i think you and me have a lot in common i also offroad a swb trooper
love it to bits these pics are at tixover in northants

 - My Audi would never have turned over. (It wouldn't have got that high high in the first place   )

The camera link at the top now takes you straight into the members gallery. :D

There is still an error on upload but I have ironed out some bugs already - the rest will be smoothed out soon - it's been a tough one to crack. Uploads now work ok if they are finished within 30 seconds - there is an error message but the picture is uploaded ok anyway. :? (I will track the problem down)

Coming Soon:- There will be a more integrated gallery via the profile pages and this will hopefully work in a similar way to myspace and have a large area for blogging bragging and slagging. - Watch this space. :)

See I do listen to criticism even if I'm slow in fixing it.

I actually don't own one myself but I am in them alot because I'm in the S&R (search and rescue) team here on Iceland.

The Team I am in has two Land Rower Defender on 38 - 44 inch tires and a lot of extra gear like 2 fuel tanks, air pump, computer chip and alot more

Here are two photos of the cars in different situations and they work weary well. I have been in them in many different situations and I have never been uncomfortable (exept one time we were on abit too much speed on a mountin road and jumped and I got tents and backpacks to the back of my head in the landing).

Wish we had that much snow over here - we are lucky to get a couple of inches! Looks like fun.

I think the snow picture was taken up by Vatnajökull (Water Glacier) in the ester trip.

It is great driving in the snow and we allso have a few snowmobiles that we somtimes take out for a spin if there isn't anything happining that we need to go to.

I have once been in one of the trucks when they get stuck and then they get really stuck. We were driving in weary high snow and there was a hole in the way wich we drove into and the car sunk and it took us 15-20 min. to loose it allthough we were 7 people digging it up from the snow.

Here the best thing when it snows is to have a 4x4 and go up to mountins and glaciers and it is the most fun situation to be in, in a jeep here.

The snow on the upper picture isn't that deep on Icelandic scale for the mountins but it is a fine dept and I guess it's alot to people that don't are used to it.
