    Beginner tuner

Failing that, you could also get a ZR diesel, and once tuned, you'll be looking at 150bhp+ and 240+ftlb of torque.

    They're on!!

My Addendums that is:bigsmile: You may remember my previous threads about my attempt at re-furbing. So from these crackle effect MGZR wheels: To these: Not bad for a virgin re-furber eh!! They are not absolutely perfect, but good enough till i find some more time to do them properly...

Have you ever hit or injured an animal or bird

Wouldn't fancy the job of cleaning that Porsche!! I hit a Monk Jack deer one in a mini bus through the city of Peterborough, scared the bejesus out of me. Knowing there was adults/children around, i thought i had hit a human. This 'thing' just ran infront of me, and had no time to hit the...

What's the biggest mistake you've made on your car?

Following on from Bens' thread, about learning to work on cars, what's the worst mistake you've made on your car? My most stupid mistake was while upgrading my brakes. Changed the disks no problem, then went to fit the carriers/calipers. They fitted great with no hiccups, then went to bleed...

    How did you learn

As above really. I knew nothing about doing stuff to cars, up to a few years ago (i'm 34 now!) I bought my first rover 4 years ago, joined a rover forum, and got information from the forum. Has saved me a fortune doing things myself, thanks to the forums i belong to. You only really learn...

    Fluffy toys

I have seen the car since the picture has been taken, the whole car is covered in stickers of fairies. Fortunately it is driven by a woman, if i was her hubby/boyfriend, i wouldn't be seen dead in it!! Cheers Dave

    One down, 3 to go!!

When i came to doing the most damaged wheel, i cheated a bit. I used a electric sander with a triangular end to it, to rub down the worst bits. Managed to grind out most of the damage, and the paint fills in the tiny imperfections. A sander like this one: For the other wheels, i used the...

    One down, 3 to go!!

As most of you will be aware, i am currently re-furbing a set of Streetwise 17" Addendums. I have now completed 1 wheel, and looks pretty good i reckon. This is the sort of damage that was on the wheels before i started: This is how the wheel looks now, this was the most badly damaged...

    Doing your own work

Same here, always done work to my car. The only time i haven't is when i need special equipment to fit the item, things such as changing suspension. Otherwise, everything else is all done by lil' ol' me. I have re-mapped my car (using maps supplied to me), changed brake set ups, and loads of...

Good deeds for other car owners

One thing i did do, is get a neighbours diesel Ford Galaxy started. I just happened to be driving past, and asked if he was needing a a jump start. (in broken english, as he was italian (he probably still is as well:p)) the guy said it will turn over, but not fire. So i suggested he cracked...

    Query from ben

I see your point, we were all there once:) Do a insurance quote on a rover 1995 onwards 214 or rover 211, you may be pleasantly surprised. The added advantage is that there are lots of rovers in the scrappers, thus parts are relatively to get hold of. They are also very easy to work on...

    Query from ben

What's your budget? Have you considered any other cars? What about a Rover 200 or Rover 400? Very underated cars, but they are actually fantastic value for money. The Rover 1.4 is 103bhp, making it the most powerful 1.4 in the class. Food for thought really. Cheers Dave

I currently work as a drainage engineer for a well nationally known plumbing/drainage company. Hours are either 24hrs Monday to Monday, or generally 8am till finish Monday to Friday. Cheers Dave

    Remapped!

I've had 3 re-maps from Reidy Re-Maps, each one has been progressively better, along with the extra mods i have had done to the car (Rover 25 turbo diesel). Matt is well established over on MG ROVER forum, within the diesel section over there. I'm yet to have the pleasure of having a dyno...

    DIY alloy wheel refurbing

After a bit of time away, i am currently re-furbing a set of alloys for the first time. I bought some Rover Streetwise 17" Addendums, as found incidently on the Rover Streetwise: Unfortunately they are/were in a rough condition. I was looking around for some company to refurb them for me...

    620Si, sell or maybe strip

I have a 1993 620Si, which i am looking to either sell or strip. It really is too good, to just scrap. The MOT runs out on 22/3/09/Tax end of March, and is actually in a good condition. This is now available, as my R25 is back on the road. Would anyone be interested in it? The dark patch at...

My Rover 1.4 k series engine

To be perfectly honest, i haven't heard so much crap being said about the ROVER K series engine in a long time. First, it is a ROVER engine 16Valve DOHC engine, NOT a Honda engine. NO Rover engine was VTEC, they used the VVC on the top of the range 1.8 engines, either 143bhp or 160bhp. A larger...

    Restrictions

The only restriction was on the 1.4's some had 83bhp, due to a restriction in the throttle body. Yours won't be restricted in that way. Cheers Dave

    Turbo's

For fear of treading on toes here, i'll suggest a rover site that will be able to help. The site is Rovertech There is a massive amount of knowledge on there, and i'm sure they will be able to help you out with your problem. Cheers Dave

Who else has a Rover derv??

Buy the car for around a grand, and for less then another grand spend on mods, you'll be around the 150bhp mark, and a shed load of torque. Cheap gains really. Let me know if you need any help/advice. Cheers Dave
  35. S

Who else has a Rover derv??

If you have about a grand, you can pick up a rover 25 or 45 with the latest diesel engine in it, and probably get better performance with relatively few mods. Cheers Dave
  36. S

Who else has a Rover derv??

Few pics of my Rover 25 derv

Just a homemade pod put into the centre vent, nothing fancy to be fair. I know the wheels are a marmite issue, but i reckon they look better in real life. Altho i'll probably re-paint the a more 'normal' colour!! Cheers Dave
