Can I use a thicker oil?

Subaru used to have an optional 88 degree (standard) and a hotter one for winter, 92 if I remember, as did many other manufacturers.

Thanks. Just worth mentioning that the sidewall states m+s too. So good for the rally cross, mud covered tarmac we get over here in the country, from the sugar beet harvest etc, where tractors try to convert roads into fields. And for parking in fields at motorsports events and...bonfire night...

    Help with starting project!!

If I were in mississippi, I would donate some spanner time for some of that corn bread and moonshine, but I don't think that it's appropriate to donate funds for the very reason being, it could just be for a crystal meth lab, or something much more sinister. Sorry

    Winter tyres fitted

Pirelli sottozero 3 x4, 225/45/17, pricematched by selecta tyre, quoted by openeo £404 fitted with new valve and balance. They are very quiet apart from a fairly high pitched but only slight "singing" Roll on the cold.

You need to start by buying yourself a rear fog light... And rigging it up in your bedroom window.

Can I use a thicker oil?

I personally prefer a hotter thermostat in winter if available too.

Can I use a thicker oil?

It's about perception. My renault suggestions on oil are a 10 w 30 or a 10w40 but that is for UK. It's a very poor guideline. It's perfectly feasible to use a 0w 30 or 0w 40 because this spec supercedes the last. In very cold climate this would be the ONLY option due to the cold start viscosity...

Can I use a thicker oil?

Take a look. Old hat stuff in old race engine builders. It's called prudent economic common sense. And btw thick oil also works wonders on certain applications.

    Advice needed please disco 3???

My aunt is thinking of blowing ten k on a discovery. It's my understanding on discos that the discovery 3 tdv6 is the only real option. Before I ring her am I in the right ball park folks? Thanks indeed.

Can I use a thicker oil?

Ok thanks. Evacupan is different, it goes into the exhaust. Hence no engine contamination

Can I use a thicker oil?

Re evacupan. Just remembered. The loss of the pressurised crankcase also increases hp due to the lack of pressure on the underside of the pistons (crankcase pressure) giving a mild turbo effect with a linear curve of gains along side revs. It will also prevents excessive oil consumption. This...

    Harder to work on cars

The nuts and bolts are still pretty much the same. They are just dressed up to burn the same old fuel in the same old way just it's the mixed blessing of the ecu in the hands of the gods, and often misleading engine codes. The main dealer conspiracy, the engine code that could mean anything...

Can I use a thicker oil?

This is why shells opti max is a waste of time in anything but perfectly sound engines. Shell claim more power and mpg due to higher grade, higher octane fuel.
  29. emmomojo

Can I use a thicker oil?

It's when you get oil contamination in the cylinder, thus reducing the octane in the charge, due to the presence of the contaminant. This causes a drop in efficiency due to the slower burning time of the oil making for a poor explosion basically. Old engines used to knock too. Watch the...

    Tax exempt land rover.

Ha ha ha. It's also EMP proof just in case we go to war with Russia. I'm a closet prepper (ex forces) so the paranoia runs deep. And they will just about run on anything, including thinned waste engine oil!! (B)

Can I use a thicker oil?

Bore wear mate or a blocked breather. I would try blocked breather pipe first and cross your fingers and toes. There is another method to extend engine life in older worn engines, without expensive machine shop expenses. It's called the evacuated sump(evacupan)method. It's possible to do with...

Which discontinued model should be continued

If we are talking fiat, there is only one fiat (actually 2) that are worthy. The Dino coupe. And the supermirafiori sport. But the Dino is the absolute plural sphericals of grand tourer status. Featured in the Italian job as mafiosa cars in black, they had the glorious Dino v6 unit and...

    Increase the motorway speed limit?

I think that better driving standards should be enforced in the test, and instead of payment of fines, refresher courses of varying degrees of advancement should be offered as an alternative to points and fines. TV advertising campaigns would help too, if it were not for a TV advertising...

Barbara Castle, politician, brought out the 70mph limit after a publicity stunt by jaguar (e type) did 150 mph I think, and this was followed by ac cobra doing around 170. Bear in mind that the average Jo could only buy a moggy thousand or a Ford anglia, which could barely break 70! Crossply...

    Beware the fog

This infuriates me. "drivers" as opposed to "pilots" African "driving" licence passed = forward, reverse, steer, brake pass, same in Russia. Good drivers "pilot" a car, or other road vehicles. I find it difficult to find commonality with the people who blind you with fog lights, when there...
