    Does car insurance cover ICE?

Re: Car Insurance for modified cars - tips and a guide Mine is covered to 5k and if I want different alloys for the car as long as I don't value them over 1k they don't mind. Dunno what they will be like with other mods though. I am seriously considering the rear anti-roll bar and front strut...

Have you ever hit or injured an animal or bird

I hit at rabbit at 60mph a few months back. No damage to the car it went straight under the passenger wheel. I went back to look where it had ended up and there wasn't a mark on it. It was a "clean kill" with no blood. There was no disease on it either so it went in the boot.

What winds you up about garages

These are the main reasons I don't take my car to the dealers. I will for the next service to maintain the warranty but after that a good friend of mine who takes pride in his work can do it for me.

ECU remap for the new Corsa 1.7 CDTi?

One option which is possible is to dump in the 1.9CDTI engine out of an Astra. Thurlby Motorsport have the Astra 888 which is tuned to 200bhp.

    My Fabia vRS

Oh and for those of you who are interested here is Clarkson's review of the Fabia vRS from his newspaper column. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/driving/jeremy_clarkson/article455398.ece If I were you I'd skip a fair bit, the actual car review is about halfway down the page.

How was your 2008 car wise

This car year has been pretty good for me. Sold my Polo which did need a new throttle body (£400 but I didn't bother), windows which wouldn't go back up (again didn't bother) plus the clutch was on it's way out and the gearbox was pretty hopeless. Ended up selling for £2100. I could have got...

Super unleaded does give more miles

Has anyone done a test on the better diesel you can get? I have been tempted to do this with my vRS but my driving is too unpredictable. I don't go to the same places all the time if you know what I mean. I often will go on a random spin somewhere. I have been told it cuts down on black smoke...

    My Fabia vRS

Yeah my dad has an Octavia and you can line it up to a Bora and the middle bit is identical. Only differences are like you say is the front end and the Octy is a hatchback.

    My Fabia vRS

Too true. It's all about the budget. I know of Fabia's which have been tuned to 240bhp+ but that included bigger turbo's, LSD's, methanol injection plus loads of other stuff.

    My Fabia vRS

And with regards to handling people say the vRS doesn't handle well but to be honest it's never going to be a Lotus Exige but I think for a standard car it handles really well. I've never lost it yet.

    My Fabia vRS

Right to clear some things up the Fabia is pretty much the same as a Polo (9N) and an Ibiza MK3 The Polo GTI is a 1.8T but you can get a Polo GT TDI which shares the same engine as the Fabia vRS or the Ibiza FR which is 130bhp, 6 speed and up to 2006 has the engine code ASZ and 2006 on has the...

    My Fabia vRS

Yeah the only problem I get with that is people in Mini's always want to dabble me. I notice it most on the Motorway which TBH they don't stand a chance.

    My Fabia vRS

All the panels are original. It's had no spray it's a straight car. It's just a combination of bad lighting and my bad camera on my phone. I did the number plate thing on Photobucket and copied and pasted the pics

    My Fabia vRS

It's one of the nicest cars I've driven. Steering is nicely weighted and the power has surprised a lot of people. Some have asked has it been remapped but it hasn't it's completely standard apart from the head unit. It's the 1st car since my 1st car (which was only a bog standard Mk3 Astra 1.4)...

    top speed limiting, stupid!

The reason they do it is because if they let the car do 155mph+ then due to "safety reasons" they would have to put better brakes, better suspension components and improve other bits so that it would be "safe" at the faster speeds. This would mean the car would cost more to produce and more cost...

    Seat leon Cupra GT?

That could be just the BTCC body kit. There's one round by me but it's red and it's actually only an FR (2.0 TDI 140bhp) There are however a few limited edition's going round with more power. A proper Cupra is over 200bhp in petrol guise and 170bhp as the TDI. There is this it's just a shame...

    car list

1st car: Astra Mk3 1.4. I was given it by my dad when he had a new car. I kept it a year and sold it to a mate when the MOT run out. 2nd car: VW Polo 1.4. Bought it off a mate expecting VW reliability. GOD I WAS WRONG!. The windows didn't work properly and always had an intermittent engine...

How long for the log book to come through?

Yeah it's the best all round car IMO for my budget. Very easy to drive fast or economically. The steering for me is perfectly weighted and not over light. It's practical but it can't tow. Doesn't bother me as I haven't done my trailer test. Servicing is reasonable. I think a full service is...

    Car tax and insurance

The vRS is currently costing me £850 a year to insure and tax which is £120 at the moment isn't due until December. I checked about tax increase and it goes up by £5 in 2010 so I'm fine.

How long for the log book to come through?

I bought my vRS on the 28th August but I am still waiting for the logbook to come through. It's been a month now and I'm starting to worry a bit. I've even had a letter off the DVLA saying that I no longer own my last car which I sold AFTER I bought my vRS. So how long should it take for it...

    Sat Nav Question

The specific thing I'm after is the option that logs how fast you've been going along with average speed and current speed. As I plan on doing more driving a satnav is handy to have when I'm travelling but at some point I fancied testing my car out on a private road to see what it could really do.

    Sat Nav Question

A friend of mine has a sat nav (don't know the make but know it's not a Tomtom) and it tells him how fast he's going and also tells him how fast he has been. Worst car experiences?

Going through 10 inches of water on the Crosshands to Pont Abraham (Start of the M4) at 50 mph. I couldn't see properly as it was raining so hard. The water soaked my engine and I drove home on 2 cylinders. Thankfully it had just soaked the leads so I just changed one and missing stopped.

    New panoramic windscreens

Another problem with the Vauxhall Astra's with the panoramic roof is insurance. My uncle was thinking of getting 3dr Astra with just the 1.8 engine as he has use of a company vehicle if he has to travel for work but not for personal use and doesn't need anything as nuts as a VXR as he's over...
