    Centrifugal Supercharger Oiling

Luckily I found a similar ad from a few years ago from Turbo Technics, same unit was apparently rated for around 2.5L. Bit of luck that! Seller did say that it had been refurbished but when and what was put it is anyone’s guess. Ad confirmed as well that it’s fine to use engine oil to lubricate...

    Centrifugal Supercharger Oiling

I spun the charger by hand today and it equates to 14 impeller turns per 1 pulley turn. The gent I bought it from also claimed that the boost capability of the unit was 1.5bar. Cheers.

    Centrifugal Supercharger Oiling

Thanks mate, as I took a bit of a punt on this as cheap as it was, the guy didn’t seem to know what it was. “TT30037” is written on the housing of the unit but nothing else. Googling that code yields no results, sadly. I have measured a few things on it and these number are as follows...

    Centrifugal Supercharger Oiling

Is there any major drawbacks to using engine oil to lubricate a Centrifugal Supercharger? I have managed to acquire a good unit but it doesn’t come with an Oil reservoir. I was thinking about tapping an oil feed and using a filter to work as a protective measure

    Turbo Oil Drain

Just something I've been thinking about; Most people have a separate Oil Drain attached to the oil pan but I was wondering if anyone has ever used the Sump Plug as an oil drain for the Turbo? Would the stock sump plug be too low to act as a sufficient drain? Cheers

    Intermittent Rough Acceleration

My car has an Eaton M62 supercharger on it and occasionally suffers from a hesitation, jerkiness when accelerating. For example, if I have been following someone and manage to get round them, it jerks and pops and the revs don't climb. If I release the throttle and press slowly, that sometimes...

    Supercharger Exhaust Setup Question

Turns out the hesitation came from a failing coil pack. I thought it was strange that it was intermittent so I thought I could rule that out

    Supercharger Exhaust Setup Question

I have actually carried out 1 & 5, the injectors were bought second hand from a breaker and I was assured that they were checked before I got them. Thanks though, always worth doing the easy stuff first

    Supercharger Exhaust Setup Question

Hi all, looking for a little input on something I have been thinking about recently. My car has the original exhaust setup, which is a twin pipe 2" exhaust from the headers to the backbox. I have fitted a supercharger and am running at approx. 0,4-0,6 bar of boost and have noticed an increase...

    E36 No Crank

For anyone wondering, it appears it was a fault with the ACS/ABS system. Pulled the relay and the fuses and suddenly it started turning again!! Thanks to those who chipped in

    E36 No Crank

I will certainly try that, thanks I’m at a loss as I said. When I fitted it at first, and before I fitted the intake manifold and ancillaries, it turned fine. It’s so odd for it to just stop.

    E36 No Crank

I have checked all the fuses (even the one hidden behind the glovebox), Tried the key fob reset trick and checked all the power to the starter with a multimeter. It actually does have a spare key but it was never cut I am going to remove the new starter again just to make sure it absolutely...

    E36 No Crank

Hi mate, sorry for taking so long to respond. That was my thinking too, but everything primes correctly and sometimes there is a loud click from the starter but no turning. I had it apart again to double check my wiring was correct and tight, which it was. The car cranked twice after I fitted...

    E36 No Crank

Hi guys. My ‘97 323i has suddenly developed a starting issue. I can turn the ignition on and hear the fuel pump priming as it usually does, but turning the key to the on position, the starter clicks but does not engage. I have changed the starter and tried it, and it did turn over, on two...

    Supercharger Pressure Release Valve Location

Hi mate, thanks for that. Currently I have the BPV set up after the MAF and the BOV just after the intercooler but well before the MAF. I thought I’d use the BOV as a sort of Overboost protection sort of thing

    Supercharger Pressure Release Valve Location

Hi all. I have a blow through supercharger setup (maf and TB after SC) and I was trying to find the best way of locating a Pressure Release Valve. Currently, I have both a Bypass valve and a Blow off valve fitted with <1bar springs in each. I was curious as to whether or not this is the most...

Here are some photos of the M62 supercharger on my engine. Luckily, it fit more or less into the same area as the previous one. Currently the setup is like this; Holding at around 3 psi of boost which is less than I thought but at least it's something Pulley ratio is 2.1:1 Diverter valve in...

    E36 323i V3

Hi. Sorry, been working away getting it all together. Yes, I managed to get it about 2 weeks ago and spent some of my off time fitting it up. It works so much better than the last one. I still need to finalize the spring rates in the Bypass Valve and I may need to fit an additional tensioner...

Good news! Bought an M62 SC yesterday which I will be paying for on Friday. Hopefully get it by the end of next week and start fabricating new adaptor plates and inlet/outlet piping. Looking at it now, most of the current plumbing will be staying which will save a heap of time

    Boost Pressure Question

Thanks again Kev, will certainly take what you have said onboard. in the meantime, as I don’t track the car and it’s rarely ever at >5000rpm on the street, would you consider it to be dangerous in its current state? It’s been fine over the last couple of months and M62 chargers are getting...

    Boost Pressure Question

Just off the phone with the company who supplied me with my unit, who are small parts company just up the road from me. Confusingly, they claimed that the charger was from a '98 SLK 230, but when they checked their records, It appears to have come from an early 2000's SLK230. This would make the...

    Boost Pressure Question

Hi Kev. You are totally right, it was actually from an SLK230 ‘98 ( I just checked back on my ebay purchases). Originally I thought this was an Eaton M45, but I believe it is actually an M62. Eaton report these are good in applications of engines 3.5L or bigger. Hopefully this provides you with...

    Boost Pressure Question

Hi there. Firstly, no. This unit was taken from a CLK320 and all the piping/plumbing has been fabricated to suit. Secondly, the inlet manifold is technically an original. It was take from an older M50 Engine. For those who don’t know, this is a common alteration to the M52. Finally, when I...

    Boost Pressure Question

Thanks Obi. I’ve been digging around the web since Sunday looking and lots of people fit Bypass/Diverted Valves in order to maintain pressure. I believe as I have my setup in the following order; Air filter -> SC Inlet -> SC outlet -> Intercooler -> BOV -> MAF -> TB -> Engine this could be...

    Boost Pressure Question

For anyone still interested in this thread, I haven’t been using a wastegate as I was under the impression that a BOV was good enough. Boost Pressure Question

The BOV is an Atmospheric one and it also has a plumb feature which I have been playing with. It only seems to increase boost at idle. https://www.torquecars.com/forums/posts/313534/ The above is my thread. It hasn't been updated since the project was completed/MOT’d, but you’re welcome to...

    Boost Pressure Question

Interesting. The BOV I use was just a generic one off eBay and I can’t remember seeing a rating on the spring. I will look about for a stronger one. As for the intake/filter, space was a big thing for me during this, so my intake pipes are about 2” from memory. Thanks

    Boost Pressure Question

Good evening all, I have recently completed my project of fitting an Eaton supercharger to my e36 323i. My SC is on the A/C side and uses an Intercooler. This is then fed through a BOV then into a MAF and finally into the intake. The boost gauge is hooked up to a fitting before the BOV and runs...

    e36 323i Project complete!

Thanks for the advise. Why? Who knows. My recollection is that it would be their liability if...
