This car is a manual and doesn't have cruise control.

We've just been on holiday for 2 months and my wife finds that the stop lights remain "on" even when she is driving. The car is a 2006 Peogeot 206 GTI 180 Sometimes the lights go out, but, most time remain on. Any suggestions as to a cure, or, what is wrong?:blink:

The Jaguar has an eight speed automatic gearbox. It's disappointing that it doesn't control the speed. I, really, can't see the point of it!:confused:

What do you mean "scan"? Do you mean get a diagnostic check on it? I've booked it in with an Auto electrician for later this week.

She does the right thing - puts the handbrake on - puts the car in neutral and waits. As I said, she only drives 4 kms per day. Not much chance of red hot brakes in that short distance.

Also, the car is a manual, so, keeping the foot on the brake isn't an option.

I think I could get the parts replaced for less, but, imported European parts are hellishly expensive in Australia. It, definitely, needs a closer look, rather than just replacement. If not the same thing will happen again in another 5,000kms. Thanks for all the comments.

We have had the car since new and there has never been an accident with it. The Peugeot dealer says it may have been driven through a puddle whilst the discs were hot and this could have caused the problem. Surely they are more substantially designed than this?
