My Tacho has been playing up intermittently so finally had enough and pulled the instruments out and off to the repair specialist who said that the usual culprit is the printed circuit.

As my shift light is wired into the tacho harness it should behave once more when everything is fixed and back in place.

Well the instrument panel has a clean bill of health so +it's off to the auto sparkey soon

Apparently the tacho feed is from the aftermarket computer and not the coils so it's off to my engine builder who installed it.

Well drove up and back and the dam tacho worked perfectly .V(.Hope the electrical gremlins are gone for good.

The Gremlin is back :}>
Started it up and no tacho again.V( so about 3klm down the road and back home it was fine so I wish it would make up it's mind once and for all

Was watching Mighty Car Mods and they have been working on an old Nissan. As they were tearing the wiring out to put a stereo kit in they found the old wiring to be rotten and broken in many places.
Could your problem be old corroded wiring that is hidden behind panels or bulkheads?

Gremlin tracked down and found :) It turned out to be the faulty MSD Tach Adapter that was affected by heat over many years even though it was on the inlet side of the motor fixed to the inner guard so the replacement has been relocated further away.
