Hey Guyz! im new to this forum which is simply LOADED with awesum advices and articles..ive just bought and remodded a 95 civic. its gt electric blue paint with da body kits and lights n all. its lowered 1 inch and has alloy rims and lowprofile tyres..kind of complete, only thing left is da performance issue and dats where it usually counts, so need big advice:

Ive installed headers and exhaust into it, bt due to the genuine D16 engine, it hasnt made a big effect! :embarrest: So im thinking of an engine swap to B16 hopefully. thing is, dats gnna cost me a lot, n i just wanted to ask dis one big que: After the engine swap, wt other things do i really need to increase its performance, makin it cross the 200 bhp barrier :D.....any advice wud be hugely helpful! ive heard abt da cams and lightenend flywheel and air intake stuff,...bt is dat really effective, n how much more horsepower does it give?

PS: as soon as i reach my 10 posts, ill upload da pix to my civic, im sure ull luv it :)

hey and welcome to the site mte.

if your looking for the 200bhp mark ether look towards the B18 rater than B16 ( ok more expensive) or go for the B16B which is around 185
trying to get up from 160 to the 200 using a "normal" B16 is going to cost a fair whack

ahannn kzz bro thnx so much fer da advice, ill start my search n see if i cud get a decent second hand engine deal on that....so IF i do find the b16b, wt mods do i need to atleast reach close to 200?

can you please refrain from txt speak please

intake, full exhaust inc sports decat and manifold along with mapping should see you close to 200

welcome to the forum mate
try and get your hands on a type r b16a, their 185 bhp or there abouts

then with mods such as header, plugs, leads, it will bring it up to 200bhp
it will be quick at that, your civic weighs just under a tonne

maybe the sir is only the b16a
i had a type r civic, and believe it or not, i never checked that

ah well, i learn something new everyday

thnxx so much guyz, you've been hugely helpful :) After the engine swap, ill mod in new plugs and ignition coil, air intake, Ecu remapping and new clutch kit (I already have a full exhaust system with custom made headers). That'll dig a hole in my wallet but i guess its worth it!

One final question though, ive heard a lot about these mods but not sure about their effectivity, what do you guys have to say about low ratio gearbox, sports camshafts, engine balancing, bigger valves and lighter flywheel?? Thnx all :D

youll need the exhaust manifold (headers) remade as i dont think they will match up.

low ratio gearbox - better acceleration, lower top speed unless you match the gearing nicely
cam - you should see around 8bhp on the 1.6
balancing - are you tracking the car ? it allows higher rev range. suppose its good for hondas where you need 7krpm just to get the thing to move.
flywheel - do you live in a hilly area ? it will allow the engine to rev more freely but lose speed quicker on hills

A B16A2 will not reach 200bph unless you have VERY deep pockets, and for that money, you may as well get the B18C from a DC2 Type R. Don't forget it's not just about power, take off the body kit and put the standard bumpers on and you'll save weight, add a lip kit as well and it'll increase how areodynamic the body is.

What suspension set up have you got?
What braking set up have you got?

Hmmmmm, appreciastion for all the advices, learning a lot here! Mate ive got japanese springs lowered an inch on the car, brakes are the standard ones, but im thinking of upgrading them to brembo ones......about the engine, i think i won't find anything better than the B16 dohc vtec of the integra engine, or more likely, the 1.6 vtec found in the new civics. And i guess you guys are probably right, i won't be able to make it reach the 200bhp point, at least not with the money ive got in hand :(

Well, thnxx all of you for those advices up there, i guess i'll just go the practical route, swap in a newer vtec engine from a civic, and spend whatever rest ive got on the performance, hoping it would have SOME effect on it.......the least that can happen is my civic would run smoother and better....

Engine conversion costs a lot of money mate. I don't think you've thought this through tbh. Get rid of those springs, 1 inch isn't a lot. I had my Civic lowered by more than 4 inches before somebody smashed into it! Spend what you can on suspension components and make the car more fun to drive. Coilovers, front and rear strut braces, anti-roll bars. The brakes can be taken from an EP3 (front and rear). If the car used to have a D16 under the bonnet, have the rear drums been converted to discs as well?

Lol well, somebody ALWAYS does!

about the drums, na mate not yet. and your are right, the car should be more fune to drive and thats precisely what im trying to get at! its no fun with a d16 nomatter what type of suspension you pile up in there! So im thinking to put a genuine vtec engine from a newer civic. Its no B series, but hey, atleast its a VTEC, plus its gonna cost me lest, and still make tha civic more fun to drive! what say?;)

Make that rear disc conversion your next priorty mate. Take the rear setup from an MB6 and the front from an EP3. Brakes will be sorted then.

I completely disagree with the suspension thing. A D series can be fun with the right setup. Brakes and suspension should always come before the engine. I will give you an idea of cost mate. B18C from Japan supplied and fitted by specialists will cost £5-6000. The K series from the newer Civic's will actually cost you more, because K20s don't actually fit under the bonnet of the older Civics properly.

If it was my car, I would get the brakes done ASAP, then move onto suspension, then get myself a JDM B18C. Once you're done, you'll have over 200bhp, the car will handle very well and you'll have decent stopping power. However, be prepared to spend a lot of money.

noted that :) brakes are my next priority, and then the engine :D (it wont be a b18, acutally i mistyped it in my previous post..i actually meant a b16, the dohc vtec one. I'll hopefully swap that in in June. Till then, its savings time, and a lot of patience :).

Again, i just cant stress enough how helpful all of you have been, thnxx a tonnes boyz :)

Get the B18 if you can mate. 195bhp vs 160bhp from the B16.
I agree with you their prince. If you going to do the b16 mate you might as well just buy the eg6.The note for this swap is the b18.(integra)plus you get a decent low ratio gear box with it.Bonus.
