    Audi 4.2

not done as much as i would have liked. I have had a chip done and powerflow exhaust. Both have brought it up to about 325bhp, but i haven't done a rolling road - not that you can do it easily with quattro and auto boxes (due to the auto torque'ing between gears) anyway. done about 90k miles...

    Audi (1999) A6 4.2 chip/remap woes

got my car back on Friday, and it does feel a little sharper than before - after all a remap to this engine doesn't add a lot of power, but i am quite pleased with it. Despite me having to go back on Monday to get the following issues resolved: - Kickdown not functioning - Cruise Control no...

    Audi (1999) A6 4.2 chip/remap woes

update: my guy still having issues and i dont have my car back yet, said it was a clean ECU. no idea why it all went wrong. he said the eeprom to do with the imobiliser chip was now acting up and he is trying to recover it. looks like if he cant fix, he will shell out for a new ECU. expensive...

    Audi (1999) A6 4.2 chip/remap woes

Well, the poor guy is still trying to sort it all out (10pm!). Not sure what exactly went wrong, but its possible the ECU is now duff - possibly unearthed a root issue. Not a major issue for me thank god, as he reckons he can source a new one tomorrow. He has come good and offered his car as a...

Do you let your Wife/Husband or Girlfriend/Boyfriend drive your car(s)?

Re: Do you let your Wife or Girlfriend drive your car(s)? from next month, the mrs will be on my insurance (for a grand total of £6 for the year!). I am scared to death, but she is a good driver - i taught her!

    Audi (1999) A6 4.2 chip/remap woes

Good suggestion, but no - all standard Navigation Plus. Before he started the work he took a capture of the chip f/w (or checksum) before erasing it, the problem is, the original capture is corrupt on his laptop. That captured the data is now preventing him from returning to the standard map...

    Audi (1999) A6 4.2 chip/remap woes

Hi All As you may have seen in another thread, I have taken my beloved to get a remap done. What was meant to be a simple job has turned out to be anything but. First of all the diag port failed to work for the remap, so he resorted to lots of other tricks (apparently), but now has been...

    A6 4.2 Quattro (C5) Avant Exhaust tips

i finally got it sorted after 3 weeks of going back to and from the garage for fine tuning. I got it done at a powerflow dealer. The trouble with Audi V8's is if you keep the pipes separate all the way to the rear corners, you will get an exhaust pulse between 2000-3000 rpm which sounds like a...

    Best Audi ever made

think it needs some 20"s with 325's. I reckon its because they need to keep all the wheels identical in size. if they have narrower fronts to rear, it may upset the quattro handling. Also, size like that on front would create some nasty camber steer ... well on our crappy roads anyway. Some...

    Best Audi ever made

S5 is tasty, but lacks the big wheels to fill those arches i think!

    A6 4.2 quattro needs lowering,

Cheers buddy. I have it booked in on Saturday for them to look at it, and will make sure they do it properly this time. Also noticed that the exit tail pipes are smaller diameter than the pipe from the cats to the rear silencer, so i suspect there is restriction there too, not to mention the...

    A6 4.2 quattro needs lowering,

Hey Rabbit Would you mind doing me a favour? Could you take a couple of snaps of the exhaust boxes in the centre and rear? (or better yet, if your invoice has part numbers of the boxes used - mine does) I had powerflow fitted by a dealer and although looks good, its lovely up to 1800rpm...

    Audi 4.2

Hi all Went down to powerflow dealer this morning. The man who knows this type of car is back in later in the week, so booked in for Thurs for a cat-back system. I'd rather wait for someone who knows this v8 for best mix and match options. Next week, looking at a remap :)
