    Bad starting TDI

This can be a problem sometimes with a petrol engine but I don't expect it to be a problem with a 1.9TDI engine in a 2006 Seat Altea. Starts perfectly when cold but really difficult when the engine is up to operating temperature. Full throttle and several long attempts at starting are...

VAG PD engines and fuel quality (additives?)

Interesting take on short journeys, hadn't appreciated that aspect of them. I mainly use additives because I run on cheap(crap) fuel. (Used, filtered veggie oil and waste mis-fuelled mixture)B) And the 1.9pd loves it.

    hid kit

There seems to be a problem with some of the after-market HID kits in that the power converter fails. t seems to me that on the desire to make them smaller, they have ignored the basic requirements for cooling, ie there is insufficient surface area to dissipate the heat generated. Not only...

    Hi from Devon.

I don't intend to take the remap off as I love what it does for the car. In hindsight I think the DMF was on it's way out when I bought the car and the increased power from the remap saw it off in short order.:( I bought a solid flywheel conversion kit from Euro car parts as I thought that would...

    Hi from Devon.

Thanks for the welcome. I think it's a great forum with lots of interesting threads and I look forward to learning a great deal and maybe even contributing a little.

    BG244

Does the 2-EHN do much besides improve the cetane value? I have heard that it reduces the viscosity and or lowers the cloud point which could be advantageous during the cold weather. Adding around 0.15% acetone is often added to home made biodiesel to improve the cetane value, that may also...

Oh dear! I don't want to give the testers any more reasons to have a car fail the MOT. ;b/

    BG244

Trinity Chemicals are well acknowledged source for chemicals for the biodiesel industry. For some while they have supplying the 2-EHN fuel improver for biodiesel and regular diesel, They are quick to respond to market requirements and have recently started to produce an 'equivalent' to BG244...

    Golf 1.9 105 2006 injector issues

Have you had the injectors checked on a diagnostic to see which one(s) are failing? Altho I don't know whether replacing one or two is good practice. Replacing the lot is quite expensive whether you upgrade them or not. :(

Remapping a turbo diesel engine. :- More power, more economy it sounds too good to be true.

Need to get a manual and see how difficult it is but if it only cost £75 then it's not a long job. |B

    hid kit

I went for the 5K version but it was 50 ? watts. The converters on them keep blowing up, probably because of the wattage, or because I was using the el-cheapo versions from ebay.

    Best engine options

But they're just about bomb proof if you get the right engine code.

How much did it cost? Is it worthwhile to DIY? Did you notice any performance improvement? I blocked one off on a Toyota some while ago as it kept sticking but didn't see any performance benefit.

    hid kit

Strange that they are illegal. I fitted an HID kit but one of the bulbs wasn't fitted correctly so the headlamp setting was way out when it went for it's MOT. The tester fixed it and set it up and it passed the MOT
