New dune buggy suggestions

We know that the Classic Beetle makes a great dune buggy and has been done to death. There are loads of Baja bugs around.

I wonder what new cars would make a suitable update to the original dune buggy/baja concept?

Any suggestions then of cars that would look great chopped up and made into a Baja/Dune buggy?

Smart did a prototype called the Crosstown, not strictly a dune buggy but definitely in the spirit of things!

I think it's a shame they never made it.

fiat multipla - might look a bit better
