I presume you are from the UK in which case try Adrian Flux. A local broker may well be able to negotiate terms for modified cars. Have you asked your current/previous insurer?

yeah the joys of being young. i take it most of the stuff is styling. thi makes the car more attractive to theifs. i remember when i put £260 alloys on my civic, my insurance at the time added £400. the induction kit only added, iirc, £80

It's not the value of the mods that they are bothered about, it's the bad reputation of modified car owners (in the insurance companies opinion) that they don't like. Normal High Street insurers are only interested in Mr Normal as there are an awful lot of them, meaning that they don't have to try to get your business.

The cost of insurance also varies greatly depending on what car you drive. My son has an Alfa 33 Cloverleaf. last year he paid £1200. However, if he had wanted to insure my Robin Hood (faster and worth 3 times as much) it would have cost him £900. Your occupation can also make a BIG difference. My son changed from carpentry to performance/race car building and this added over £100 to his premium this year, even though there is no chance of him driving anything.

Car insurance is one of the very few advantages of getting older I just checked, for interest only, how much my Elan insurance would be if it was unmodified. Fully comp, no excess, £10,000 value - £106.

Yup. All our vehicles are now with AF, apart from the Son's Alfa, as he is with Bell (might be worth trying - all his friends are with them, not sure about mods though):

My Ins, has shocked me, on a brand new ( 57 ) Corsa D Design 14i 16v, if it wasn't on Motability LV wanted £470 FC + courtesy car cover, yet in total contrast,
For my 1984 Granada Ghia X 2.8 V6 quotes: £285 FC with £250 excess & courtesy car cover. Fully comp with £500 excess & no courtesy car: £169.

Chris..
