| Re: What would be your ideal car... Trouble is any one car is a compromise. I'd love an m5 for crossing europe swiftly, but also I'd like a cliosport cup for track days, a range rover for some comfy mud-plugging and an alfa gt v6 because, well because its an alfa. |

I researched it and found out what a mechanical masterpiece it is. Worst MPG and I don't even care! I hope to see one in person one day. |

| Re: What would be your ideal car... Would own one over a Nissan any day of the week. Oh and what does a Nissan cost nowadays, hmmm?? A hell of alot more than you can get a Monaro VXR500, and sorry but I dont agree about the looks. Yes they are nice cars but I love the looks of the 2 door Monaro. I'd sooner stick another 1000bhp under the hood of the monaro for what the price difference is.
I can also show you a vid of a skyline r34 gettin slaughtered round a track by a monaro and also another one beating a lambo murcielago in a drag run.

I can't quite believe a monaro would slaughter a skyline around a track. I certainly would not beat a GTR in a drag race.
Monaro's are nice, but they are not that quick.

| Re: What would be your ideal car... They can be. The VXR500 will do 0-60 in 4.4 seconds standard and they weigh 1700kg, so a bit light weight chassis work would be a good start. You'd be looking at some good figures with a twin turbo version.
And BBJ, no it wasn't a comedy sketch. The Monaro sit's up the backside of the skyline round the track, bends and all, then flies past it like it's standing still when it comes round after a bend.
The Lambo one is close but the Monaro just gets it which isn't bad considering the price difference. |

Have to have a look at them. |

Have to have a look at them. | Hard to say from one video isn't it. If I gave my misses the RS I could still probably beat her round a track in the diseasel Fester. |

| Re: What would be your ideal car... Oh yeh dont get me wrong, alot of it would be down to the driver. But if you search for any form of the Monaro, either being the american Pontiac GTO, aussy Holden or the UK Monaro and you find some good vids, especially of the supercharged ones. |

I can also show you a vid of a skyline r34 gettin slaughtered round a track by a monaro and also another one beating a lambo murcielago in a drag run. | Possibly you also have a video of a manaro breaking the sound barrier - it
doesnt mean jack
May I humbly suggest that before you post things you should take the time to read and understand what you quote.
I said a z tune would slaughter any stock manaro ( inc the vx500 ) round any track. And it would
And if you had bothered to read that and take the time to find out what a z tune was you wouldnt make a fool out of yourself by suggesting otherwise.
Now I agree that the manaro is a fine car but if they were something really special you would not be able to buy one for £20K
And remember this is a thread entitled Your best car not your best car under £20k
By the way fastest manaro ever round the ring is 8.35
A stock 33GTR went round in just under 8 minutes
A factory Z tune only has an extra 200 bhp (ish) , a race chassis and does 0-60 in 3.2 seconds in stock trim out the factory. So I guess it might be a bit quicker.

| Re: What would be your ideal car... Same to you numpty, read what I said yourself. I didn't say one would beat a Z-tune, I said an R34. I think it's that time of the month again by the sounds of it LMAO @ Sleeper. |

| Re: What would be your ideal car... First a z tune is an R34 skyline
You chose to use the top factory spec manaro in you comparison - I was just recpricating with the top spec R34 which seemed fair to me.
Anyone can say they have a youtube video proving their point.
It is worthless without confirmed specs since it could be a non turbo 2 litre 4 door r34 against a racing manaro
Still it would be nice to see this slaughter ???
On the other hand my info isnt a video we have not seen but confirmed independantly recorded track times around the best test track on the planet
The best manaro time ever recorded there does not get near 15 year old stock R33GTR times (of which there are more than a few) . In fact around the ring in it is slower by about half a minute !!!
Look if you prefer the manaro thats absolutely fine by me and you dont need to justify your choice - after all thats what the thread about , but.....
when you talk about track performance please use confirmed facts which is what mine are.

| Re: What would be your ideal car... Not disputing that at all. Also the VXR500 isn't the top spec one available, just my fave one. I was mearly using the vids as examples. The league of the 2 cars couldn't be further apart either. The R34 is a road going track monster and have nothing but respect for them and the Monaro is a just a simple huge engined beast that has the bonus of power, very cheap to buy for what power you get, very good on fuel considering the size of engine.
The stats I got from Vauxhalls own site in regards to the standard VXR500, the video is just one I stumbled on and i'm sure the Z-tune would wipe the floor with MOST road going cars.
But heres the vid of the 2 racing. The Monaro is the american version which is a GTO and has 2 turbos. The Skyline is a twin turbo GTR and you'll see the power it has towards the end. Just a shame it doesn't show more of the race... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MFw3wO39Gk |

| Re: What would be your ideal car... So it is actually a twin turbo Pontiac GTO not a monaro overtaking a skyline (which by the way is a 33 not a 34) on one straight..........
and a standard 34GTR isnt a track monster its totally driveable around town untill you tune them over about 450bhp |
