Default UK Budget

Car tax to go up on the top bands. Most of what I have found applies to cars regd after 2001 which use a c02 rating. I really want to know what this means for pre 2000 cars but can find nothing yet.

Band CO2 TAX
A <100 g/km £0
B 101-120 g/km £40
C 121-150 g/km £100
D 151-165 g/km £125
E 166-185 g/km £150
F 186-225 g/km £190
G > 225 g/km £210 (New band for cars after 2006)

Petrol to go up as well 2p this year and 1.8p next

Spirits taxes are unchanged so at this rate in a few years time it will be cheaper to run the car on Premium Vodka!

I imagine the new car tax will be applied to vehicles up to 3 years old, but I don't care as I still get FREE historic tax on Near Lee and the Minor will be the same. :P

I think if he starts to put higher taxes on fuel again we wil end up with another fuel strike.

I do think they should heavily tax cigaretts though, even more than they are already. Hit the things that kill you and not our everyday necessities. And before smokers go "oi you NO!", I am too a smoker (although I keep trying to give up ).
