| track car and/or road which would you rather have, a fast car that you use on the road, have a huge insurance bill or have a moderatly fast car on the road an spend the money you would be saving on insurance on a car that flys round the track that one day when you have got the ncd an over 25 then insure it for the road (if its road legal that is).
tbh i would go for the latter, as then you get a decent enough car for the roads comftable, fastish but safe, then instead of tuning that leave it standard (mabye a couple hundred tuning nothing ott) an put all of the money you would be modifying it into a race car THEN take it on the road an sell your other one when you can afford it.
this is what im thinking of doing.
audi a4/a3 1.8t for the road, couple of hundred spent on perfomance tuning.
then
a supra twin turbo at 450bph for track/strip
go with your idea's/ current setup |

| Re: track car and/or road id rather just have the 1 car. the cost of maintaining the 2 cars. you still need to service both cars, the track car after every race. both cars still need insurance, you really want to have track insurance incase you end up screwing up somebody elses car or worse.
the biggest problem most of us on here wil have thou, is how do you get your car to the track ? just about all of us on here cant drive with a trailer attached. so you need to get training and sit a test, then go out and get a car trailer.

| Re: track car and/or road I think i'd go with 1 good all rounder. I used to run two cars and it was just too expensive. As per PG's comment You'd need a trailer to get the track car unless it's taxed and insured which defeats the object.
I didn't know you needed a licence for using a trailer? Is there a weight restriction or soemthing and is this on newer licences?
(I'd really like an all rounder with a sport switch!)

(I'd really like an all rounder with a sport switch!) | yeah on the new licenses ( early 90's onwards ) your limited to under 3.5 ton, cant drive with a trailer and cant drive minibuses (over 9 seats), yet you can drive the equivalant van

| Re: track car and/or road yip its easy. phone around your big driving schools, thats the ones who do minibuses big buses, rigid and HGVs. they usualy do trailer training as well.
around here i wouldnt bother with normal driving instructors as they only sem to do car testing and thats it
