Default Time wasted on wrong parts

Have you ever wasted time getting a part to fit your car when it turns out that they send the wrong part through to you in the first place?

I don't know about you guys but I often take it on trust that the part is right and don't bother double checking it.

I've had everything mixed up from bulbs to engine covers in the past!

I don't order from Euro Car Parts so don't have this problem. It's either trusted aftermarket or geniune BMW.

Even from a Saab main dealer I have had a few howlers with regards to parts, but they usually sort out the mistake to my satisfaction pretty quickly.

Always expect them to be wrong and when proven right it doesn't hurt as much! I tend to take a pattern part (if possible) with me to compare before handing over cash. Alternatively I take some photos and use this to clarify them.

it doesn't help that car manufacturers across the board seem to change components in the same model from one week to another.

Yeah, a starter solinoid for my escort. Mine was on my way out, fitted a new one, would start 9 times out of 10. When your running a heavy TD on a battery, you only have about 4 attempts before the battery runs out. It was bumb start glore until I got another one.

That doesnt guarantee correct parts even from BMW .

A friend of mine ordered some parts by chassis number from a BMW main dealer.
Because they were special order so he was told he had to pay up front.

Parts arrived and were wrong - after 2 months he is still fighting for a refund as BMW have tried to suggest the car might have been modified .
It hasnt been of course.

My local are very good (can't vouch for any others except Hereford). I also check everything before handing over any cash.

I was once told I needed a whole new head. It turned out the camshafts they had been sent were the wrong ones and they thought it easier to try to con me into buying a new head rather than just reordering the correct cam shafts.

Back in my Honda days, the parts guy didn't know what an Integra was. Shocking. My local Honda was rubbish.
