The throwaway society.

In this throwaway society we are starting to buy new instead of fixing the old. For example if an alternator breaks most people will go out and buy a new one rather than get the old one fixed or reconditioned.

Wheel bearings are commonly replaced when often all they need is cleaning and relubing.

This is actually a cheaper option, the downside is that your car may be off the road for 24 hours. This is an option we need to be aware of. When a garage offers to sell a new replacement part ask if the old one can be repaired or reconditioned.

One of the biggest causes of CO2 emissions has to be the manufacturing processes. If we all adopted a more pro-active approach to repairs and replacements we will save the environment (including shipping) and we will also save money and keep the local economy running smoothly.

i was more throwaway with the civic, but most of the stuff that was replaced, nothing major, my father in law took it off my hands incase he needed it for the rover.
