Default ST25 Good/Bad ??

Anyone owned a mondeo st24? I've been offered a swap for my v6 galant, I've had lots of mondeo zetecs & I've loathed them all.

The most important thing on my mind being the suspension, I'm growing tyred of the galants woolly handling & thinking a swap for an st24 would save me the £300 for coilovers...

The official power output & performance figures are pretty nuch the same.

Drive it and see. The ST is quite different from a stock Mondeo and handling is quite sharp. Not sure how it will compare to the Galant though, the v6 in that is a nice engine.

Lol, you mean st24, 2.5v6 called st24 cos its got 24 valves. Good chain-driven engine, so regular servicing is a must. Cheap to fix and service though and there's a huge modding community out there. Imo fords have always had the best handling mainstream cars, so the st24 should be good in that respect. Mondeo v6 should be a little quicker than a galant v6

Agree with Yugguy on this, I have actually driven one once over a weekend and it changed my misguided thinking about performance Fords

The v6 in the mondeo was a porsche project which Ford purchased and sent to Cosworth to finish off. also it is half an Aston mrtin V12. Hell of an engine which is why I really really want a 220. My neighbour had a st24, did a few things to it and it was super rapido (He preffered it to the few st200's he drove but he only got 18mpg out of it (but like I said it wasn't stock and he didn't take it easy) There was a model before the st24 which was much the same but now very cheaper, I think it is the Mondeo Si...?

Point A to B is more than getting to the end, it's about the experience. Some cars are great to own, others are great to drive; there is no comparison as far as driving experience goes.

@ Aston - The V6 Mondeo is half an Aston Martin V12! Really? You learn something new on here everyday I always thought of the AM engines as being handmade from start to finish by fine old craftsman wearing brown overalls and shirts with ties, never would have considered a link to a Ford engine in anyway!

Lots of stuff gets shared. The v6 that jag put in the x type and s type was a ford block from the st220 but the cylinder heads were jag designed and built.

Yes it is a class engine with some big names attached to its development and use. And it amuses me how people knock mondeo's. PPC magazine did a huge piece on the st24 a few years back, It was a very enjoyable read.
Also a few years back my wife got me one of those Ferrari days as a gift, 3 cars and 3 instructors, I asked each instructor which would be the best affordable car to do a tour of the drivers roads of Europe in and two said the Mondeo V6, the other a cheap westfield.
