Default Should un-economical cars be banned?

There was a guy on the radio this morning banging on that he couldn't see the point of anyone owning a car which does 15-20mpg and was calling for a ban on all new cars which could not do 35mpg. Does this make sense to you? Can you make a case for uneconomical cars?

BTCC, WTCC, F1, F2, F3000 DTM WRC the list goes on .

when your going down the motorway the world saving pirus will get less than 35mpg. people have to tax their car buy the fuel for it pay. its like saying you should ban houses from having more than 4 bedrooms. the ones that have 9 or 10 cost loads to heat for rooms that will be hardly used

Why waste time, effort and money banning things that would be better spent on developing cleaner technology like how to store Hydrogen for use in Honda's new fuel cell cars?

The sooner that's perfected and adopted, the sooner we can start to make a REAL impact on our emissions which if the Government really cared about then they would be doing already.

They want to cut emissions by 2020? Surely given the climate change propaganda we've been subjected to, by then it would be too late?

Interesting question: if we reduced our reliance on fossil fuels, would there be no reason to meddle in other countries' affairs anymore?

what we really need to do is work out how separate water in to hydrogen and oxygen (cold fusion) so cheap that its basically free power stations would produce nothing but water from burning the hydrogen in air which would then be used to power the turbines

same would work in cars. distilled water could be stored in the fuel tank it would then be separated into the H and O, burnt then waste which would be water be put back through the system to the tank. granted some will be lost through the process

then again in a filling station water just as expensive as petrol least you wouldnt need very much
