| New Beetle vs New Mini Which of the two cars is better. Particularly thinking when comparing the new incarnation with the original.
Both cars are based on classics and have been brought up to date and thoroughly modernised. Does this kill the appeal on both cars or has one maker made a better job of it?
We have the new Beetle against the new Mini.
Which one best captures the spirit of the original?

| Re: New Beetle vs New Mini Ok I'll vote for the Mini. It seems to be everything the original represented but it is a lot bigger.

| Re: New Beetle vs New Mini Not fond of either really. I'd go for a Micra if I wanted a small car. |

| Re: New Beetle vs New Mini I'm not sure that a current Micra looks at all special either. But I'd have one in a heartbeat if it was a small car for me only to use.
OK. I'd order the 1.5dCi in the highest level of tune available and then get Messrs. Cock and Co to remap it to the tune of 150bhp. |

| Re: New Beetle vs New Mini i could put up with an ugly dash, just as long as i don't have to drive a bubble. |

| Re: New Beetle vs New Mini I think the new mini has character. They have not tried to remake the original but come up with something in the spirit of the original. The Beetle however is a remake and has lost a lot of its charm. Its just too soft and curvy now. Perhaps it needs a bit of chrome.
The mini dash is meant to be retro cool and I quite like the massive pod guages but each to their own as they say. |
