| MOT time Well just picked up the car from the garage and passed. phew i always hate MOT time usually coz theres a whole list of things that need done to pass or warnings about things
the civic always failed on the nearside rear brake from some reason. i even cleaned it out before the mot and it still failed .
still the bushes that only had 2k left on them were still fine 3 years (40k) later.
Whats have you had to have done to get you car through an MOT ?
And can any body explain what the MOT stands for ?

Worst for MOT was a load of welding on the arches and sills the cheapest was a failed bulb and washer bottle was empty. |

| Re: MOT time Mine's up in July. Should be fine as it's serviced very hard. I'm slightly concerned about a rear suspension bush which is a little clunky on rough tarmac. If I get a service in before I'll get it replaced. |

| Re: MOT time Have you tried Poly bushes? They last a long time but are a little firmer on the ride, which is not actually a bad thing.
I think mine is August time, should sail through though with no problems. I save the service to just before take it on a very long run and fill it with Super unleaded and this guarantees an emissions pass.

The old Turin decoke. Works brilliantly. I used to do the same trick with my Nissan - a steady 7200rpm for ten minutes or so up a steep hill in second worked wonders. |

the et on the Audi wheels is 42 over the VW 32?, i think, and combined with the extra width it meant the wheels were sticking out from the bodywork by about 10 mm. didnt think my tester would bother about it as he never bothered about the tv connected up with the handbrake switch linked out, or the 130w bulbs the 1 year i forgot to switch them off. Although he did mention to me they were rather brighter than they should be. But i didnt want to chance it not when you now have to pay for the full test again

I haven't. Do I need to rebush the whole rear suspension if I do this?
I won't be doing this work myself - it'll be left to Pug1Off in Brackley when the next service comes around.
I don't really want the ride any harder than it is already.
Peugeot took the liberty of setting up the 2.2 diesels with the same suspension as the 3.0 V6 cars and at times it's too firm on ropey surfaces. |

| Re: MOT time i have heard some people have complained that the ride was too harsh with the poly bushes.
i would say the bushes on both sides would need changed mabye not them all but the the same work done on each side.

| Re: MOT time i would leave the engine mounts alone anyway especially with it being a diesel, im guessing the pug will have hydraulic mounts anyway to reduce vibration from the engine
replace the worn bush on each side with poly ones see how they feel. then look at fitting the rest with them or sticking with the poly ones

| Re: MOT time The engine mounts are hydraulic, but many petrol cars use them too. At this point in time I'm looking to conserve ready cash so will be following advice you offer. ie. replace the rear bushes with poly's and leave the rest well alone.
I think the engine is mounted on a subframe which might have other rubbery compliant things in the mix. THey, too, can wait for now
