How well do you know your car?

I frequently hear little noises from the engine etc... that wern't their before. Usually it means something is up and I look into it.

My wife however does not appreciate these little noises and usually can't hear them even when I point them out. Is it just me? Do you know your car so well that you can tell if something is up?

i could with the civic. but im still learning every nook and crany of the bora seems to be some noises there one min but not the next i normally put it down to road noise

In my case I never hear anything because as I drive a diesel there's so much noise and vibration that you'd never notice a problem. Indeed, if it got quieter I'd be concerned.

I notice most of the nioses and what not, but I don't always know where i'm looking! With the exhaust it was obvious...but apart from that I've never had any problems with my Civic.
