If you were to swap a Golf MK2 GTi engine for something that will make it go faster, what would you put in it being realistic considering is only a small car?
A vr6 conversion has been done a few times and works quite well. Or I suppose you could go the turbo route but i think this is much harder. Is it an 8 or 16 valve engine?
depends you could go down the most common 1.8t unit.
VR6 is a good idea if your looking at suprcharger.
R32 engine if youve got money and lots of time, can also be turbocharged
R36 engine if youve got lots of money (need to imprort from germany )
Agree. 1.8T conversions are everywhere now. Most proper VW tuning places will give you advice.
The VR6 fits aswell. You can buy all the parts to do the conversion but the engine is quite thirsty. Works a lot better in the mk2 than the mk3 though and sounds nice
