Default i used to get good mileage from my last performance car

i used to get good mileage from my last performance car.
it was a golf mk4 tdi with 6speed box, and rolling road tuned to 150bhp but with more torque then an R32.

generally i would drive sensibleish until i got the first 250miles out of te tank (which would be th halfway marker on the fuel guage)
then drive like a twat, accelerating at EVERY strech of road. and i'd still get over 380miles to tank. and thats all town driving. i'd normally average 420miles. from my normal enthusiastic driving. an a car that left the mk3 gti & a tuned mk4 GTI eating my dust.

Motorway, i recon i could get at least 600miles out of it, i did get over 530miles was MY best tank of fuel, but i could have got more if i didnt cruise at 99mph where possible, and Maxin it a few times;
[if you get caught doin a 3figure speed you lose your licence automatically]

anyone see that Jeramy clarkson go from london 2 scotland and back on one tank of diesel in an AUDI?

now got a bmw 320d, the best i canmanage with carful driving is 390miles, but my exaust is blowing. i miss my Golf

I saw the clarkson thing - on youtube of all places. It goes to show how much difference careful driving makes!

Default Too Thirsty

My 318i's too thirsty for my liking. I've ran a 1.0i, a 1.4i and 1.8TDi and they were all great for fuel, especially the 1.0i and special mention to the TDi which was an Escort for getting me about 50mpg.

At the moment i think i must get about 20, it just depends on how fast you like to go. I found £20 in my Escort 1.8TDi got me about 230 miles and in this it gets me about 100. lol. OOPS
