Default Are drivers slowing up in general?

I've notice people slowing up a bit on Motorways - perhaps it's the high cost of fuel?
I remember in the good old days Lots of drivers would shoot past me but now there is only the odd driver, usually with foreign plates in a German car that flys past me. (An a Peugeot 406 HDi Diesel oddly enough! )

I think average speeds have dropped a little - transient speeds by quite a margin, which kind of shows the futility of trying to go everywhere at light speed. You don't really make that much ground on everyday journeys.

I certainly have been grannying my car about recently just to wring another couple of MPG from it. It seems every time I buy fuel the price has gone up a penny or so per litre. I'm also considering cutting my loyalty to BP Ultimate diesel but the actual difference is so small compared to the overall price.
