Default Can you put ethanol in a petrol engine?

Just wondering if you can put ethanol into a car engine. It seems to hold more power than petrol and some drag racers use it.

With some severe Modifications to the motor, yes. But dont expect it to last very long. Professional drag racers will do 1 event on an ethanol engine and after that its lot, its dead and ready for a rebuild. Also the top fuel dragsters, at the end of the 1/4 mile, are running purely on engine heat alone, a little bit like a diesel. The burn in the engine is so intense, they melt their spark plugs.

s Stevie says, I wouldn'r recommend it.

At santa pod you can get the high octane race fuel and can run it in your engine but you have to set up the ecu to change the amount injected and timing or engine will melt.
